New Polish Light Tank Concept and a New Family of Vehicles

By January 2010 Polish defense company started to cut the first pieces of steel for a demonstrator of technology of a new light tank. This will be shown at the MSPO Defense Fair in Kielce this year. The light tank is supposed to be the first of a whole new family of vehicles its also possiable replacement for polish t-72s..

The new vehicle will be a joint enterprise with India's BEML corporation. India's requirement is the vehicle has to be able to be deployed by helicopters (by hanging it under the chopper):

Very nice. We'll especially need two things out of this apart from its 100 mm (?) main-gun turret. The AAA variant and the APC/MR-APC variant.

These should also be complimented with enough numbers of heavy-lift choppers.

    Specification for Light tank:

    1. 120mm Main gun in Unmanned turret..
    2. Front placed engine for better protection of crew..
    3. 40mm AGL and 7.62x51mm MG..
    4. 12.7mm HMG for AAA protection..
    5. APU..

Slovaks are to provide cannon, which will be assembled in India, BEML will produce the fuselage of the vehicle also engine..
FCS and other electronic may be Indian which can be also implemented in polish version..
The tank is light category that means under 20 ton!, therefore we can carry plenty of them in C-17s, IL -76 or MI-26 helo..

Yes, BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Limited) is a PSU. It specializes in heavy vehicles such as earth-movers and road-rollers.

Their is no word for APC, India is already focusing on Abhay APC, But it is possible in future, IA might chose the universal chassis with Abhay 40mm turret..

    LOL..
Lots of questions, though i can say this IA will purchase the tank also the ARV, Regarding APV i would say we must to stick with Abhay APC..
Regarding induction and trails and etc info, I will update as soon as it publish on Polish news and official sites..

This would be first time it undertook heavy Military projects, for that reason it opened a new production facility in Palakkad in Kerala..

The new tank is part of 100+ light tanks of IA..

OT: What is the difference between APC and IFV?
Our BMP-2 is a APC or IFV? If BMP-2 is a IFV can we use this IFV variant to replace our BMP-2 ?

BMP-2 is extremely effective against Infantry it can destroy Infantry fortifications, suppress enemy defenses, It can carry troops under heavy small arm fire also can run over personal minefields and dismounting troops on strategic locations....

It can be also used for Anti tank role in dug-in positions..

APC's are armored vehicles meant for carrying troops to the front and then retreat back to safety whereas IFVs carry troops to the battlefield and stick on to support armor and troops. IFV's generally have better firepower.

APC is consider as a vehicle which can carry troops inside a armored body ( Various roles described in my previous post ) where as a IFV is a armored vehicle primarily used for suppression of enemy assets like Infantry and other hardware ( soft skin vehicles also enemy APC/IFV ), But now days most APC are also IFV ....
