That word does not go with the great man... typical British insensitivity...
Typical DFIndian whining. Read the article instead of just the title. Read the quote I posted from the article. Just read the last sentence of the quote I posted from the article.

The article tells me the Indian government could settle many of the questions about the fate of Bose, but that is not the Indian way. It is the Indian way to cry like babies about the Brits in perpetuity. It's pathetic.

Once again the word used is out of place... Regarding the content of the article, I have been reading such for more than than 20 years now... nothing new to me...

The headline is objectionable... he is patriot and not Fascist... Subhas is admired by all Indians"¦ His fight against imperialism is second to none"¦
Thats what the Problem with the Western Media. They first label a person and then they say its not insulting and slowly the Label sticks to the person in a strong way such that even Indians will start to refer him as fascist.

The author committed significant time and effort to researching and writing a favorable article about your hero. It was the only one in the thread to address the DNA issue and also says the Indian government could to more to clear up questions, especially those arising about the at the end of his life. His DFI namesake sniffs, "I know it all already." Clearly he does not. You guys must lie awake at night looking forward to logging on to DFI and finding something to be offended about. The real Bose would not waste a minute of his time on the likes of you.

To Term him Fascist and then do research about him shows the bias about the Author doesnt it? Most of them would get turned off..I mean if somebody does an elaborate research on a Famous Personality, the Most he would bother about is giving him a decent Headline.

Its like saying something to this extend " British loving Gandhi's Dandi March extensively studied" What kind of emotion it would stir to somebody who adored Gandhi. Would it not offend Him?

Or something Like " Drunkard Churchill's Word War 2 Documentary"

Would it be appropriate? I do not lose my sleep over these thing but i hoped i made a good point.

Upon further thinking upon your post, I wonder if perhaps Indians lack the mental power to think for themselves and resist Western influence. The best answer may be to cut off all exposure to foreign ideas. The Kim family could be consulted for advice on how to make your country into the Democratic Socialist Hermit Republic of India.

[The preceding is satire.]

Netaji Quotes

"Give me blood and I will give you freedom!"
"Reality is, after all, too big for our frail understanding to fully comprehend. Nevertheless, we have to build our life on the theory which contains the maximum truth. We cannot sit still because we cannot, or do not , know the Absolute Truth."1
"Freedom is not given, it is taken."
"One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives. That is how the wheel of evolution moves on and the ideas and dreams of one nation are bequeathed to the next."
"Embodiment of the past product of the present prophet of the future mystery still continues.. but end is near & it must be so."
"No real change in history has ever been achieved by discussions."
A true legend.

But India does not recognise him so.

Thanks to the Congress Party that has to show Gandhi and the Nehru as the sole saviours,
Sir, I believe an all India government poll should be held to determine who is the greatest Indian of the last century and who "truly" deserves to be called the Father of the Nation. In our DFI poll we have seen that Netaji Bose is still considered the greatest Indian of the last century. It is a shame that some Indians still revere the Gandhi family.

@Peter
Netaji conferred the title Father of the Nation to Gandhi and its best left that way. Netaji's life is the stuff of dreams and legends - his escape, journey, returning back at the head of an army, and finally a mysterious exit. The fact that he never got the due recognition of his sacrifice adds to this charm. I somehow don't like the idea of giving him a whole lot of titles and recognition now to fill textbook pages.

My point is:
The title of Father of the Nation cannot be given to any one individual. India has produced a lot of men who deserve that title.

Netaji didn’t die in 1945 air crash: French secret report

CHENNAI: How did Subhas Chandra Bose die? To find the answer, the Indian government had appointed three commissions. The Shah Nawaz Committee (1956) and Khosla Commission (1970) said that Bose died in an aircrash on August 18, 1945 at Taihokuairport in Japanese-occupied Taipei, while the Mukherjee Commission (1999) concluded that he did not die in an air-crash. The government, however, rejected the findings of the Mukherjee Commission. But that didn't stop scholars from dwelling deep to find the truth.

Paris-based historian J B P More, who recently stumbled upon a brief French secret service report dated December 11, 1947 at the National Archives of France, has come up with a finding that Bose didn't die in an air crash and was still alive in 1947. "It is not stated in the document that Subhas Chandra Bose died in the air crash in Taiwan. Instead, it is reported that Bose's present whereabouts were unknown as late as December 1947, which again implies that the French did not buy the theory that Bose died in the air-crash on August 18, 1945," said More, who teaches at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Economiques et Commerciales, Paris.

The gist of the matter for the French secret service, according to More, is that Bose did not die in the air crash on August 18, 1945, as commonly held. "But he escaped from Indochina alive and his whereabouts were unknown as late as December 11, 1947, as reported in the secret document. This implies that he was alive somewhere but not dead in 1947," said More, quoting the report written for the "Haut Commisariat de France for Indochina"- SDECE -Indochinese Base - BCRI - No. 4128/3 cs/ah - Ex No. 6/16, under the title: "Archival Information on Subhas Chandra Bose." "In this report, it is clearly stated that he was the exchief of the Indian Independence League and a member of Hikari Kikan, a Japanese organisation. It is further stated clearly that he escaped from Indochina, though it does not state how," he said.

The British and the Japanese too declared that Bose died in an air crash after he took off from Saigon on his way to Tokyo. But the French government had always been silent on the issue, though Vietnam/Indochina was a French colony during the 1940s. So the findings of More attain significance. "Very quickly after the Japanese debacle and surrender on 15th August 1945, the French arrived in Saigon, along with British troops and took charge of Saigon. But unfortunately they left no direct accounts of Bose's death in the air crash. They had never endorsed the theory that Bose died in the crash," said More.
