Nepal detains 13 Indian jawans chasing smugglers

Some Indian security men were detained by Nepali border police after they crossed over into the neighboring country today morning. Indian officials said two jawans of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were detained but some media reports said that 13 men of SSB's patrolling party were detained when they crossed over into Nepal's territory.

Narendra Modi government to address the recent strain in the ties on a "priority basis".

"We want to take forward relationship with India based on equality and same applies to China...We will not accept big brother attitude. Our opposition to India's big brother attitude does not mean we are inviting some other country to behave that way. Relations have to be equal (balanced) is what we feel," Gyawali told PTI.

"India is an emerging power. If India wants to play a role in world politics, it will have to first form cordial relationships with neighboring countries. Otherwise, its role will be questioned and challenged," Gyawali said.

"So, we want Indian Government to review its position and address the problems which have surfaced (after Nepal adopted the new Constitution). We will expect India respects our sovereignty, right of Nepalese people to take care of its own problems," he added.

Nepal's Madhesis, people of Indian origin, are protesting against the new constitution, which they claim discriminates against them. Their protests on Indo-Nepal border have severely affected civil supplies and triggered acute shortage of essential commodities

china cant do anything in Nepal . if it even try to that will create lots of problems for Chinese in Tibet . we need to be even hard with Nepal . we can put Nepal in stoneage all their power is from india and the fuel they r getting is due smugglers from india not from china. establishing secure n uninterpreted supply line from china will take 8-10 years n billions of dollars . current supply line dont work in winters or can say 6 months no supply . so Nepal should respect big brother coz due to India Nepal is alive . so its either our way or noway .

Anti India sentiment is growing in Nepal but still they have permission to come India through border. I'm in worry if they too will start terror attacks.

Honestly Indian security forces shouldn't be crossing the boarder into Nepal, so they probably should have been detained. Not sure what the issues with Nepalese being angry with the Indian government are, but I don't see why India can't just stop playing big brother to Nepal and interfering in their affairs, especially when they are soooo sooo sensitive about it. Why does Indian need to be the champion of minorities in Nepal? It's not our business.

A lot of Nepali soldiers and civilians cross border daily. What about that?

They should be detained also. It's the boarder, some stricter controls and greater respect should be implemented. If smuggling or some other issues makes it vital to cross the boarder, than some sort of joint task force, should be created by both nations.

Let me simplify this for you.
Crossing each other's border is legal in case of India and Nepal according to an agreement. That is why we see many Nepalis in India. According to this agreement:
Any Indian or Nepali can go in each other's nation and can buy lands and business there etc..
Nepalis communists protested that
Only Nepalis should be allowed to go and business in India. and called the agreement
intervention in their constitution .
So, when Indian Government stopped Nepalis from entering India and trade with them, Nepal called us a bully and when our businessmen worked there they called violation of their constitution.
They have banned Indian Products and channels but still depend on Indian donations for money and Indian companies for infrastructure.
India has made majority of their damsz highways and railways and now working on their education and healthcare system.
Totally, they are so thankless to India after getting so much from them. :tsk:
