306 million is huge.A quarter of total population of India. Also a quarter of the total population deprived of electricity all over the world.
I am curious to know the methodology of their survey/ study.
Have they counted the illegal connection, hooking and subletting which is rampant in India.
I am not trying to say the penetration of electricity is 100% in India but all illegal shanties in cities do have satellite TV disc on their roof.
But there are many villages where there is no electricity.
Our govt. each year extends the deadline for reaching 100% electricity coverage.
And also elections are fought over Bijlee and Paani.

    306M? Wow...

India has had over 60 years of democratic sovereignty to provide everyone with electricity. How does the government still fail to deliver?

The 150 years of british rule before that de-industrializing the country. How does China lose the opium wars to the british, when they lost to a handful of sikhs?

100 of those 150 years happened before electrical power even became commonplace. China had over a dozen years of war against Japan between 1931 and 1945 that cost over 20 million lives... yet still rebounded far quicker than India ever did.

I'm not even gonna try to explain anything to you, you obviously want to feel superior so let me ask you another question?

Why did 80k rebounded CHinese run from 10k primitive indians with .303s when the chinese had kalashinakovs?

edit - Also, is there a water shortage in China?

edit - Also, China liberalized around 20 years before India did, and a population concentrated along coasts with non-hostile neighbours and had the advantage of strong soviet technology transfer. Either way, we'll see what happens. There's no reason to be arrogant, or brag or anything shows holes you wouldn't want showing.

That's terrible. If those numbers are accurate, it must really gall when David Cameron visits and offers not a peep of apology...

Because those positions were a) indefensible and b) not part of China's territorial claims, and c) India could mobilize hundreds of thousands more men?

There is a water shortage in most of East and South Asia.

Really ?? Didn't know that. Well, may be I'm that's because I'm used to with power supply situation of Gujarat. But this number says a lot. Congress has no right to bash Modi. Congressis can't do sh!t about basic facilities and always make a lot of allegations.

Given that the per-megawatt cost of renewables is typically 2x-3x higher than traditional sources (or even natgas), I'd say no.

Of course, India could always opt to import cheap solar panels from China.
