PATNA: Two top Maoists in Bihar and Jharkhand who boast of fighting for the cause of marginalised sections of the society are millionaires and their family members lead a lavish life with the extortion money collected by cadres, according to an intelligence report prepared by the special task force (STF) of Bihar police.

TOI is in possession of a copy of the report which has been submitted to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The report says that children of top Maoists Sandeep Yadav and Pradyuman Sharma, who are active in Bihar and Jharkhand, study in prestigious colleges, own sports bikes and travel by air.

Sandeep, who is in charge of Bihar-Jharkhand special area committee (BJSAC), is wanted in 88 cases and carries a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. His brother Dhanik Lal is also a Maoist.

Pradyuman is wanted in 51 cases and carries a reward of Rs 50,000. He is also a member of the special area committee. The report says that Sandeep's elder son Rahul Kumar is a second semester BBA student at a reputed private college in Patna. A sports bike, purchased from an Aurangabad showroom on down payment, is registered in his name. Sandeep's younger son Rahul Kumar lives with his mother Rajanti Kumari in Ranchi.

He also owns a sports bike and studies at one of the most reputed colleges in Ranchi. His sister studies at a private residential school in Gaya district.

Sandeep's wife is an untrained teacher at a government primary school in Lutua panchayat of Gaya district.Though Rajanti remains absent from school, she gets regular salary and owns property worth at least Rs 80 lakh, the report says.

She has Rs 13.53 lakh in three different bank accounts in Aurangabad and has invested Rs 2.31 lakh in mutual funds. The Maoist leader's sonin-law Gajendra Narayan is a teacher at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Radheshyam Park area in New Delhi and has more than Rs 12 lakh in different bank accounts. He booked a flat worth Rs 35 lakh this year.

Pradyuman and his brother Pramod Singh own 250 acres of land in Jehanabad which is valued at Rs 83.8 lakh. His niece Puja Kumari travels by air and studies in a medical college at Kanchipuram. She had paid Rs 22 lakh for her admission.

Last 2 years all attention was on J&K, while quitely security forces were delivering results in Naxal areas!

Numbers speak for themselves:

Love the attitude and language used:

The STF and Cobra units finished the Prahar-II operation with six scalps, including three with bounty on their heads.

....

'It's time to break the back from top and for that areas like Bijapur, Sukma and Naraynpur will have to be completely brought under our control. The numbers of commanders killed this year will rise as nearly 50 days are still left in this year,' Awasthi said.

Those underestimating ninda mantri may read this:

DM Awasthi, Special DG, anti-Maoist operations, Chhattisgarh Police, said: 'It's fight to finish. We can't fight anymore from the periphery. It was unfortunate that after being on a high in 2016 and again in the beginning of 2017, we lost a lot of our men in two back-to-back Maoist attacks in March and April. Now it's a head-on collision in their very dens.'

Senior officers of both police and CRPF credit the synergy between Union home minister Rajnath Singh and chief minister Raman Singh for the success, as they told the forces in no uncertain terms 'to go for kill of top commanders opposing development and economic progress.'

A top police officer, requesting anonymity, said: 'After losing 37 CRPF personnel in April Rajnath Singh arrived next morning at the spot and rather than asking why and how it happened, he simply said, "It is unfortunate. The past is past. But when are we going to kill the big commanders?".'

Meanwhile, the Maoist recruitments have dropped by 70-80 per cent in the last two years. This year, it has been just about 123 new Maoists getting recruited as against usual 400-500 in previous years. Also, it is learnt that the top cadre strength has come down to nearly 1,000 as compared to 4,000 and more about three years ago,' Awasthi added.

If security forces can keep up the momentum this cult of muderous thugs won't see the next decade, not in a meaningful way anyway. If things go well in Chattisgarh, their backs will be broken.

After they are set free they will be busy in lal chadi shit. Or helping their comrades in jungles.
There will be some who'll revert, either rout of convictions or out of fear. Some of them will move far away to stay away from possible reprisals.

Some of them will become OGWs or other kinds...

Security forces in Chhattisgarh are on an all-out offensive against Maoists. And the results are there for everyone to see — 63 Maoist commanders have been killed in 2017 alone, which is almost eight times higher than the casualties inflicted by the forces last year. In 2016, eight Maoist leaders were killed in total, and there had been barelyone or two deaths before that. The forces are in no mood to relent.

Take out top leaders and watch Red movement falling like pack of cards. But these Naxals won't give up so easily , they will put a strong fight before they go down drain. By then , we must hold tight and not letting them to bounce back.

A permanent solution lies in reversing the alienation of tribals

The Central Reserve Police Force lost 40 personnel in two Maoist attacks in the first half of 2017. the most severely Maoist-affected district. Though the forces were jolted by these attacks, their spirit to fight back has not dampened. Rather, they continue to undertake challenging development work in these areas. This shows how the paradigm on tackling Maoism has changed over time. The government’s response has matured in terms of deliverance — from reactive it has become proactive, and from localised it has become holistic.
Security forces are no longer reactive.

When the Maoists decided to deepen their roots into Gariaband, the State government notified this division as a new district, which gave a fillip to development work. Many new police stations and security camps were set up to prevent any major Maoist attack. The cadre strength of the Maoists has consequently reduced.

The Maoist problem is not merely a law and order issue. A permanent solution lies in eliminating the root cause of the problem that led to the alienation of tribals in this area. The focus now is to build roads and install communication towers to increase administrative and political access of the tribals, and improve the reach of government schemes. The government has enhanced the support price of minor forest produce like imli (tamarind). More bank branches have been opened to ensure financial inclusion. All India Radio stations in the three southern districts of Bastar will now broadcast regional programmes to increase entertainment options. And a new rail service in Bastar is set to throw open a new market for wooden artefacts and bell metal.

Role of civil society

However, winning a psychological war against the Maoists remains an unfinished task. Though the government’s rehabilitation policies have helped the surrendered cadres turn their lives around, security personnel are still accused of being informers and are killed. To end this, civil society must join hands with the government in realising the villagers’ right to development. Loopholes in implementing government schemes must not be used as a tool to strengthen the hands of the Maoists. Indian democracy is strong enough to absorb even its adversaries if they abjure violence.

The last two major attacks call for some serious introspection on the tactics used by the forces and their fitness to prevent any future attacks. The two-pronged policy of direct action by the security forces combined with development is showing results — the government has already made a dent in most of the affected districts and is determined to check the expansion of Maoists. The paradigm of proactive policing and holistic development should ensure more such significant results in the future.

Jamshedpur, Dec 26 (PTI) Security personnel arrested a top CPI (Maoists) leader from Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district during an anti-Maoist campaign today, police said.

The Maoist leader was arrested from an area under the jurisdiction of Patamda police station, the police said.

A loaded country-made pistol of 7.65 bore, five cartridges, one magazine, four bundles of codex wire, 25 detonators and explosives were recovered from the Maoist leader's possession, a police officer said.

The Maoist was allegedly involved in all major Maoist attacks in the East Singhbhum district, including the gunning down of JMM MP Sunil Mahato in 2007, the police said.

He was also involved in the killing of JMM MP Sunil Mahato, the landmine blast near Burudih dam in Ghatsila sub-division that claimed lives of 14 CRPF jawans in 2009 and the Chekam landmine blast, he said.

The SSP also said that the Maoist leader confessed to his crimes during interrogation.

Several cases are pending against him in adjoining West Bengal, he said.

"We have informed the West Bengal police since many cases are pending against him in Midnapore, Jhargram and Purulia districts there," he said.

"We have also informed the CBI because the agency was investing Mahato s killing," the SSP said.

Some big time news recently:

New Anti-Maoist strategy delivers results, Red Corridor shrinks to 58 districts
................................................................................................
Great work by security personnel and of course the PM and HM for their innovative strategy to fight Maoists. The Red Corridor shrank from 75 to 58 districts in 2 years from 2015 to 2017!!!

If they get 5 more years, imagine how much more the Maoist menace will shrink, especially with the drying up of many NGO funds.
