Patna: Nearly 100 armed Maoists on Thursday attacked the Dhanbad-Patna Intercity Express in Bihar.

The passenger train was attacked near Kundra halt just before Jamui railway station, reports claim.

According to reports, the ultras tried to intercept the Patna-bound passenger train and opened indiscriminate firing in which the driver of the train was seriously injured.

The rebels also attacked RPF and CRPF security jawans, who were escorting the train and tried to snatch their weapons.

The Jamui District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police has also confirmed the Naxal attack on the passenger train.

Confirming the news, Jamui SP said, "It's an attack by Maoists and not an hijack."

Additional CRPF battalion has been rushed to the attack site of Bihar's Jamui district.

More details are awaited.

it is being said that the target of the maoists is looting arms of the guards in the train. Forces has been sent to the spot. But, I am worried about whether they have set any trap to ambush the reinforcement. It would have been great to have couple of attack helicopters in this moment.

So who gave them the Intelligence about arms on train.

N. Modi was right, from top to bottom the whole anti Maoist effort is compromised.

Attack helicopters to fire on Naxals near and/or aboard a train full of people? Are you daft, sir?

Maoists are now really desperate!
If they were receiving massive amounts of arms from China, why would they want to steal guns from a train full of guards?

It would be against the Govt policy to use air against terrorists, who are Indians.

Simple answer.

More the merrier.

There is nothing called 'enough'.
Except nothing in the report indicates the Naxals stealing the guns even *had* guns to start with. You'd think that if they had arms already, and needed more, they'd at least bring some of their own guns to shoot at the guards with the guns they wanted.

Or am I being too logical for this forum?

And even if they did have weapons to start with, why would they attack a train full of armed guards to get more weapons when - assuming what many DFIers believe is correct - they could just ask China for more weapons?

BSF attack helicopters will do the trick, we can paint big BSF and IAF pilots can be send on deputation. Rudra would do the trick for Naxals. They need to be spanked with iron hand.

How do you think fired on the running train to start with?

Slingshot with bullets that explode on contact?

It will be the day when you are logical! :)
