Recently,a news channel claimed that these **** maoists were getting machine guns, rocket launchers and communication sets from china!!! can anybody confirm this please??
Chinese are one of biggest smugglers of small and medium sized arms. They are easily and cheaply available like other chinese items . only this they need to worry about is transport once weapons are in Indian territory. All these are available from chinese ordinance factory .

Caught in the Crossfire-Part_1of3_NewsX

In the Naxal infested district of Gadchiroli, whether it is the naxalite or the policeman who gets killed it is actually the adivasi who gets killed.

IMO, it is insulting Chair Mao by calling these insurgents Maoist, who bears no resemblance with Mao.

Who invented the word Maoist? Who gave them this title?
Bro, there's not one person who invented this, nor one who gave these people the title.
Maoism is the teachings/principles of your papa Mao.
Maoist is a person who follows that ideology.

No one is saying Mao encouraged violence, and acts like this. But the people who do these blasts, attacks in India are doing this because they want equality all over India. (they mostly do this because they felt the government neglected their villages so they join this militia against the government.) and some even do it for power. But ultimately, they are called Maoists because they follow Mao's idelogy. Which is equality for all. Socialism. (though India is a socialist country already, our government doesn't extend it's services to remote areas all over the country. You wouldn't see a Maoist from a city, say Mumbai. You would only see them from remote ares (with no attention from the govt from past decades).

It's entirely the government's fault that these people grew, and it's also the Maoists fault for doing atrocious acts like this.

These maoists make more than 300 million dollars annually by growing opium, drugs, extorting innocent people, mostly with approval from corrupt ministers
the maoists even illegally mine tonnes of coal, and minerals destroying their own States resources and forests not for equality or equal distribution of wealth but for cold hard cash

And greed is the fuel for these Maoists not equality and rights no doubt these maoists are ready to take on Indian armed forces since it is only the CRPF and police that stand in the way of their illegal activities.

Attacks against the CRPF and police forces will continue since there are crap loads of money to be made from the natural resources and the Illegal drug trade and narcotics production going on in these naxal prone areas
These naxalles fuelled with drug money and government funds(1500 crores sanctioned for govt schemes every year) take on the police and CRPF since only the police stand in the way of illegal activities and extortion.

MY QUESTION IS WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO BE TAKEN TO ERADICATE THE NAXAL THREAT SHOULD WE BARGAIN WITH THESE NAXALS,OR USE FORCE AND WIPE THEM OUT, TRY REASONING WITH THESE TERRORISTS AND DRUG DEALERS OR JUST KEEP SENDING OUR CRPF AND ARMED FORCES AS CANNON FODDER TO THESE DRUG DEALING MAOISTS???

Maoist commander killed in Jharkhand

A Maoist commander was killed in a gun battle with security forces who raided a rebel hideout on the outskirts of the Jharkhand capital early Sunday. Another rebel was arrested from Giridih district, police said.

Police raided the jugle hideout in Heso, around 20 km from here, following a tip-off.

'Rajesh Munda, area commander of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was killed in the gun battle in the jungle areas of Namkom. We recovered one regular carbine gun and cartridges from him,' Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan told reporters.

A search operation has been launched in the area.

A Maoist rebel was arrested in Giridih district and two rifles and cartridges were seized from him.

Maoist insurgency needs an iron hand

The Indian Diaspora in many parts of the world has expressed concern over the recent eeriest Maoist insurgency in East and Central India, triggered by the Dantewada incident (April 6) in which Maoists killed 76 troops of the Central Reserve Police Force.
Since then, tension has been mounting in the region, spreading to other parts of India.
Many have also expressed their chagrin over the nonchalant attitude of the Indian Government to combat the Anti-Naxal (as Maoists are called) violence.
The powers-that-be in the present Congress regime appear to lack the savvy and chutzpah of their predecessors who tactfully and strategically nipped the Khalistan Movement and associated violence that erupted in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star in June 1984.
Defence Minister appeared miffed at a meeting held last fortnight in Delhi to discuss the problem with the Army, Air Force and Navy Chiefs and Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram.
Mr Chidambaram was forcing Mr Antony to use the Army to suppress the Maoists.
But a seasoned politician with uncompromising principles and moral values, Mr Antony said, "India cannot use military against her own citizens."
This stark realisation was that of a philanthropist, not of a politician, which the Harvard- educated Home Minister could not comprehend.
The Defence Ministry is still examining the pros and cons of deploying the Army in the Maoist-affected areas, where the left-wing extremists have grown in strength striking at security forces and civilians with impunity.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh agreed, saying, "Maoist violence is the single biggest internal security challenge ever faced by the country."
The poor, especially the Dalits and Adivasis, support the Maoists.
They have been fighting for improved land rights, more jobs for neglected agricultural labourers, good shelter and food.
The Naxalites are now targeting the Police and Government workers to gain attention.
The enemies of India are unconditionally providing finance, arms and ammunition, terrorist training and all succour to these people to undermine the economic stability and security of India.
This is no time for political ploy to appease people or a subterfuge to find a short-term solution to the problem.
This is time for bold and farsighted political steps.
Collateral is not an option in India.
But the political hobnobbing strategy of the present UPA regime should find a solution to face the present Maoist menace in the 'Red Corridors' of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal.
The Government should also investigate and garner the source of financial support and arms supply for the insurgents.
The double standard of the countries helping terrorism to destabilise and maim the progress of India should be flagrantly exposed

PM calls Maoist guerrillas for talks

Admitting that Maoist-affected areas in east and central India have seen poor development, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday urged the guerrillas to shun violence and come for peace talks in a bid to jointly accelerate social and economic progress of the region.

'I once again appeal to Naxalites to abjure violence, come for talks with the government and join hands with us to accelerate social and economic development,' he said in address to the nation on Independence Day.

Calling Maoist violence 'a serious challenge to our internal security', Manmohan Singh however made it clear that the government 'will deal firmly with those who resort to violence'.

He paid tributes to the security personnel 'who have become martyrs' in Maoist attacks in recent months.

He said the central and state governments needed to work together to meet the Maoist challenge.

'We will provide all possible help to state governments to maintain the rule of law in areas affected by Naxalism.

'It would be very difficult for any state to tackle this problem without cooperation from the centre and coordination between states. We all need to rise above our personal and political interests to meet this challenge,' he said.

The prime minister said the tribal-dominated areas where Maoists hold sway 'lag behind in development' and vowed to end the 'neglect'.

'We want to end the neglect of these areas. I have asked the Planning Commission to formulate a comprehensive scheme towards this end.'

He called upon tribal people to join the mainstream of development.

'They have been dependent on forest produce for centuries and this dependence should not end without the creation of new sources of livelihood. Apart from adequate compensation for land which is acquired from them, we should also ensure that our adivasi brothers and sisters have a stake in the developmental project being undertaken.'

At the same time, 'it is very necessary to make the administrative machinery more sensitive in the areas affected by Naxalism.

'The government officials who work there should not only be sincere but should also be alive to the special needs of our adivasi brothers and sisters. It is my hope that the state governments will pay adequate attention to these requirements.'

Chopper ruling raises Maoist tensions

BANGALORE - India's Maoist conflict could escalate with the government granting permission to the Indian Air Force (IAF) to fire in self-defense if its choppers come under attack from Maoists.

"We were told a couple of months ago that we can fire to defend ourselves," a senior IAF official said in New Delhi on Thursday.

IAF helicopters are currently used for logistics; mainly the evacuation of injured police and paramilitary personnel engaged in anti-Maoist operations. Over the past two years, its choppers have come under fire twice. In November 2008, a Mi-8 helicopter carrying election officials and voting machines was shot at in Bastar in the central state of Chhattisgarh. A sergeant was killed in that attack. Then in April 2009, in the midst of general elections, a Mi-17 helicopter came under attack in Gadchiroli in Maharashtra.

While India is certainly not considering air strikes in the Maoist areas, the go-ahead to choppers to fire in self defense could lead to escalating violence. It is very likely that if the Maoists fire at an IAF chopper they will do so from the midst of a village. There is a danger then of the IAF hitting civilians. When police operating on the ground are unable to distinguish Maoist from civilians, how are commandos in a helicopter going to be able to make that distinction?
