NEW DELHI: Senior RSS leader MG Vaidya has alleged that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi was behind the campaign against BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

According to Times Now, Vaidya in his blog on Sunday said, "The roots of the campaign against Nitin Gadkari have to be in Gujarat because when Ram Jethmalani demanded Gadkari's resignation, he also demanded that Narendra Modi be made the prime ministerial candidate of the party."

"Modi himself seems to have strong prime ministerial ambitions because L K Advani and Nitin Gadkari have already said that they are not in the race for the PM. But Narendra Modi has still not said anything on this issue,'' the senior RSS leader alleged.

Later speaking to Times Now, Vaidya said that his comments were personal and he stood by his opinion.

According to TV reports, the RSS also issued a statement saying that Vaidya's comments were personal.

The BJP has also been quick to say that Vaidya's comments were personal.

BJP MP Ram Jethmalani has openly called for Gadkari's resignation. He has also pitched for Narendra Modi being made the prime ministerial candidate in the next Lok Sabha elections.

Jethmalani had recently rejected the party's clean chit to Gadkari over the alleged dodgy business practices of a group of companies linked to him, reinforcing doubts that the party chief, already diminished, may not be able to limp into a second term after his current tenure ends in December.

"It is a betrayal of the people," Jethmalani had said rejecting the testimonial of innocence that Gadkari secured from the party on the basis of the findings of S Gurumurthy, a chartered accountant-turned-Hindutva ideologue.

    Good for Modi.

It does not matter who is behind what.

Corruption anywhere should be exposed and snuffed out.

Modi is desperate for national role & no one in BJP high command is ready to issue that to him.

This only makes him more desperate & greedy.

Gadkari himself rejected Vaidya's insinuation against Modi.

Splendid showcase of inclusive leadership ! :notbad:

Obviously yar, why should Modi do this. Election is there after 1 month and nobody will malign its own party's image. And you know, BJP needs Modi, because he's the only 1 who can defeat congress. If Modi goes, many votes will be lost. I myself won't vote.

Kindly, elaborate? Do you know Modi personally?

Or it this is the way you want Modi to be projected?

BJP is bigger than Modi or anyone else.

He is lucky that he found Gadkari's support in such controversy. He does not have many friends in & around BJP anyways.

I will compare him with other national leaders when he becomes one. Hope that RSS/BJP will permit that some day.

And btw if they'd have needed him so badly then he would have been on the forefronts of national party politics.

Modi can be great figurehead, a title bearer. BJP & RSS's internal politics is way bigger and complex for him.

He should be launched to PM candidacy while assuring other party leaders that their stature & position in Party (not Govt) will remain same.

It is a win-win situation which will stop such controversies like the one from Vaidya. It will also put stop to petty internal fights.

Right time will come and he'll be projected. Gadkari himself says he's a Very Big(Kadaavar) leader. Frankly, I'm a selfish guy whenever it comes to Modi, I want him in Gujarat for 5-10 years more. He needs to complete long run projects what he initiated and without him they won't be completed.

Who is fit to be a national leader in your opinion among the current lot ? Narendra Modi recieves much support across the country from Indians who are aware of the good work he has done in Gujarat, whereas for the so-called Gandhi mother and son need to have paid supporters trucked from villages even in Congress ruled states. Or is it persons like crook Pawar or Mulayam or Maya Madam or Mamata Madam ?

Its not unusual for someone to aspire greater roles but its a sin if you cannot shoulder the responsibilities you aspire to take on.

As for Modi its all natural that he aspires for the post of PM even idiot like Amul Baba with no proven track record, mediocre intelligence can aspire such position i believe the CM of Gujarat is more credible.

Accusing him of greed that would be wrong I guess even if you do some work you have ambition to move up in your career.

Have we ever had someone cunning as this guy kicking media like this, all that we had previously was Laloo type leaders, imported Sonia its up to the Indian people to decide if we want able or cosmetic leaders

Well, it appears that Kejriwal has set the cat amongst the pigeons.

Here it is Modi, Gadkari, RSS

And in the Congress it is the Dewas MP who has gone hammer and tongs on the Delhi bigwigs and there confining themselves to their AC offices and cars and dream of winning elections while the RSS workers toil (as per him) at the grassroot level!

    Good for Kejriwal.

The true colours of Indian politics is being exposed!

It is all about power and no more!

Advani, Sonia, Vajpayee. These leaders enjoy political support across nation not just from within party but also outside.

    You don't get it.

Aspirations become greed when you go against organizational interests for personal goals.

Is it right or wrong? Personally I don't find it wrong because everything is fair in politics.
