India to fill Kishanganga Reservoir by blocking Pakistan’s Water in the next few weeks

In bid to escalate water war, India is mulling generation of 330MW electricity from controversial Kishanganga hydroelectric plant by blocking Pakistan s water in the next few weeks.

Currently, power generation from Kishanganga project stands at 110MW.

As per probe carried out and reports of Indian media, Indian authorities in Kashmir are keen to fill the controversial water reservoir to highest possible level for obtaining power from the project in full capacity.

Sources privy to Ministry of Water & Power told our correspondent that Indian Prime Minister Modi can inaugurate the Kishanganga project in ongoing year, the hearing of which is about to begin in the World Bank (WB).

In 2013, World Bank’s court of arbitration had awarded verdict partially in India’s favour.

As per details available, New Delhi’s counsel successfully convinced WB that work on India’s Kishanganga project was kicked off before work on Pakistan’s Neelum Jhelum hydropower project. However, the reality is quite parallel.

When investigation was magnified, it was learnt that Neelum Jhelum was approved by Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) in March-2002 whereas India’s Kishanganga project was approved by Planning Commission India in November-2004.

Startlingly, ECNEC’s files pertaining to approval of dam in 2002 were not produced before WB’s court of arbitration during proceedings, though they were acquired by the legal team which fought Pakistan’s case in Hague.:pound:

Pakistan s former Indus Waters Commissioner Jamaat Ali Shah demanded constitution of high-level committee to probe matter of criminal negligence pertaining to alleged missing of ECNEC’s files. Ali also urged stern action against those who mishandled Pakistan’s stance in court of arbitration.:pound:

On the other hand, office of Indus Waters Commissioner and officials of Ministry of Power and Water, when contacted, did not give official stance.

It's not the date of approval, it's the date of commencing the project which counts.

Construction of Paki's Neelum Jhelum hydropower project began in 2008 after a Chinese consortium was awarded the construction contract in July 2007.

Construction of the Kishanganga project began in 2007, a full year BEFORE the Porkis started theirs.

So why are the Porkis squealing?

Modi Will Make 'Pakistan Bleed' Without Noise!

Since last week there has been lot of emotions running with regard to the mutilation of our soldiers. We saw many people demanding immediate retaliation, to declare war on Pakistan, to curb media, separatists playing in the hands of Pakistan. But not many know the action against Pakistan is being planned since year, it’s not a mere fully fledged war game but a powerful ploy that will finish Pakistan forever.

There is saying “If your plan is for one year plant rice. If your plan is for ten years plant trees. If your plan is for one hundred years educate children “ But don’t expect any plans on Pakistan to be announced on news channels or social media like the previous government. Yes, Indians are used to debating every small or big issue on news to the level of saturation. But this strategic issues are not the ones to be discussed on media.

You can see the result only. The First WIN is getting Russia cancel the Joint Military Operation with Pakistan in PoK. And on Indian request Russia will not supply MIG-35 to Pakistan.

Some may feel it’s not big a deal. But unless you know how this will affect Pakistan you cannot analyse the impact. Russia is the second most powerful country in terms of military. There support to our enemy would have posed serious threat in dealing with Pakistan which now has been averted.

How India Will Play The Game…

Presently the countries which are supporting India are US, UK, Russia, France, Japan, Vietnam, Israel, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. YES Saudi is supporting India (Now we understand what Modi was doing in Saudi). These countries are completely against Pakistan and China. So India has gained the support of most powerful countries of the world and have promised to isolate Pakistan internationally.

There has been a pact made by India, Iran and Afghanistan on the Chahabar Port which is situated in the Persian Gulf, this was specifically done to bypass all trade and transport which goes through Pakistan. Although the project was started in 2003 during Vajpayee government, to tackle the Pakistan-China joint venture Gwadar port situated just 72km from Chahabar port the UPA showed no interest to take this forward. This pact is costed Pakistan huge economic loss.

Afghanistan has promised India to provide BASE to military operation if India strikes WAR against Pakistan. So we can engulf Pakistan from all sides.

If at all China supports Pakistan against India, it will be the biggest mistake as Japan, Vietnam and Saudi will stand by India. And definitely US will protest against China as they are looking to curb China’s growth in East-Asia.

Indian media may not have shown this, but Pakistani strategists and policy makers have said Modi will Destroy Pakistan without War! And yes it is true, Modi is not for war, but he will make Pakistan Bleed without making Noise! There may be retaliations and surgical strikes but not WAR. Once Pakistan is economically and financially weak, WAR will be far more risk to handle, which is when India plans to take back what belongs to us!

War is no game, any country’s economy will be hit during war, and same people will blame Modi if prices go up after War!

Remember Modi is not looking for temporary gain and transient solution, but for a PERMANENT SOLUTION!

The above refered is soley due to pakistans sheer inapptitude to effectively use the rivers allocated to it by the indus water treaty

And build dams on them it is said that after mangla dam there has been no major dam been built in pakistan and like a small kid pakistan is blaming us for their mistake
When we completely throw out IWT this will not be an issue. IWT works against India it is an archaic treaty that
serves no purpose. China is claiming all the waters of Brahmaputra so all the water of INDUS belongs to us ONLY.

What Modi’s Israel Visit Means for Pakistan

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel last week generated a lot of interest in Pakistan for a range of reasons. While the conspiracy theorists touted the trip as the formal confirmation of a “Zionist-Hindu” plot to launch a nuclear attack on Pakistan – and Islam – the more realistic debate centered around the range of arms deals signed between the two countries.

These deals include the purchase of 8,000 Spike anti-tank missiles from Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, which was finalized in 2014. This is in addition to the Barak 8 air defense systems that India would purchase from Israel Aerospace Industries, for use on both land and water.

Last month, an Indian naval contingent headed by the navy chief participated in a five-day drill in Israel.

“They have a threat from Pakistan, so India is trying to learn from things we have that are similar,” a senior Israeli Navy officer told Haaretz at the time. “We plan to continue to cooperate to see where the challenges overlap. It’s a mutual need.”

Three months from now Indian pilots will be in Israel for the Blue Flag air force training exercise. And if all agreements go ahead as planned, 2017 would be a record year for Israel’s arms sales to India – the world’s largest weapons importer in recent years.

A day before Modi’s arrival, the Israeli foreign ministry reiterated mutual cooperation in the fight against terrorism. “We are both suffering from the same scourge. I really don’t see any difference between the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Hamas… A terrorist is a terrorist,” said the deputy director general of Israel’s foreign ministry, Mark Sofer, ahead of the visit.

This mirrored the U.S. State Department sanctioning Hizbul Mujahideen and United Jihad Council leader Syed Salahuddin as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” a day before Modi’s trip to the United States. That move came after U.S. President Donald Trump implicitly backed India’s Kashmir stance at an “Islamic summit” in Riyadh.

New Delhi getting Washington and Jerusalem to echo its stance on militancy in Kashmir is not only a diplomatic triumph for Modi, it also underscores the global alienation of all freedom movements that have been taken over by Islamism.

Pakistan, which has backed the Kashmiri independence movement – both ideologically and militarily – on Islamist grounds, has long since been reduced to the lone voice taking up the issue on the international stage. Not only has jihad in Kashmir boomeranged on Pakistan in terms of a precipitous spike in terrorism, it has now left the Kashmiris at the mercy of the Indian security forces, which have upped the human rights abuses in recent months.

Successful Indian diplomacy, which has seen Modi already visit 12 Muslim countries – including Saudi Arabia and Iran – without Kashmir having been brought up, means that the violence committed by the Indian security forces is being formally given a counterterror tag.

With Israel and India conflating militancy in Kashmir and Palestine, Pakistan has two diplomatic cards that it could play.

The first is to reciprocate. Considering that the Palestinian issue has significantly broader global reach, especially at the UN, Pakistan could use it as a vehicle for its Kashmir narrative. The UN Security Council has adopted 47 resolutions against Israel – 18 since last year – while there have been only nine on Kashmir – none since 1957.

The second option would be to reconsider Pakistan’s policy on jihad and Pan-Islamist diplomacy. Not only would this, in the long run, strengthen the claim for Kashmir’s autonomy, Pakistan would be able to shun accusation of harboring jihadists. For while China – Pakistan’s economic lifeline – might have no issues ignoring Islamabad’s support for militants in Kashmir, it won’t allow any ideological backing with its no-nonsense approach toward Islamism.

Consider this: Pakistan’s archrival is busy signing record arms agreements with a state that Pakistan doesn’t even recognize. Not only does this restrict Pakistan’s diplomatic and defense gamut, it also allows India to capitalize on the same.

By not restricting itself to an ideological prism, India has successfully agreed to defense deals with both Saudi Arabia and Israel, without compromising on New Delhi’s economic interests with Iran – the common major foe for both Riyadh and Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is spearheading a Saudi-led military coalition designed against Iran, prompting Tehran to not only reconsider financial dealing with Islamabad but also issue direct military threats of attacks inside Pakistani territory.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor could work wonders by allowing others in the region to hop aboard, if Islamabad reconsiders its Islamist takeover of diplomacy and regional security policy. If not, the shroud of jihadism would continue to forestall Pakistan’s progress, both domestically and on the global front.

US is clearly standing with India against Pak : Report

Highlights
  • A Pakistani foreign ministry official said the US is unhappy with Islamabad's efforts toward regional peace
  • Pakistan, in turn, told the US it blames New Delhi for poor relations
  • The US wants Pakistan to initiate dialogue with India, the official said
Washington is "clearly standing with New Delhi" and has told Pakistan it needs to improve its relationship with India, says a report on Monday in Pakistani newspaper The Nation, citing a senior foreign ministry official.

The official further told the newspaper that the US is unhappy with Pakistan's efforts toward regional peace and wants it to initiate dialogue with both India and Afghanistan to improve ties. He added that Pakistan believes it is doing it all it can.

"It is sad they don't want to acknowledge our anti-terror successes. They are repeating the 'do more' mantra. We believe now India and Afghanistan have to do more. We are doing what we can," the official told The Nation.

Pakistan, in turn, told the US it blames New Delhi and Kabul for poor relations.

"We have told them Pakistan has always wanted a dialogue but both India and Afghanistan were not responding," the official said.

Pakistan has been backed into a corner in the last couple of months after a series of actions by the US and the European Union.

Last month, the European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the human rights situation in Pakistan.

The resolution, which was adopted by majority, expressed grave concern over the "roll-back in Pakistan of the respect for human rights and the rule of law," in particular the freedom granted to security forces, the use of military courts, the crackdown on NGOs, the intimidation of human rights defenders and religious minorities, and the increase in extrajudicial killings, reported IANS.

Then, last Wednesday, the US listed Pakistan among the nations providing "safe havens" to terrorists, saying terror groups like the LeT and JeM continued to operate, train, organise and fund-raise inside the country.

"Pakistan did not take sufficient action against other externally focused groups, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in 2016, which continued to operate, train, organise, and fundraise in Pakistan," said the annual 'Country Report on Terrorism' from the US state department. LeT's founder Hafiz Saeed is the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Also last week, the US said it was blocking $350 million in coalition support funds to Pakistan+ as it had not taken "sufficient actions" against the dreaded Haqqani terror network which has been behind terror attacks in Afghanistan.

Another official at the foreign ministry said to The Nation that Islamabad had told Washington that doubting Pakistan's role against terror would not be helpful.

"The world knows we have sacrificed a lot in the war on terror. The US also acknowledges it but it is strange they [the US] are toeing the Indian line," he added.

A retired Pakistani army veteran told The Nation that these US actions are a result of annoyance with Pakistan due to its strong ties with China.

"They [the US] are trying to put pressure on Pakistan. The US support for [Indian] Prime Minister [Narendra] Modi is designed to corner Pakistan and then force it to bow to India's superiority," said Naeem Lodhi, a retired Pakistani army lieutenant general.

The US is motivated by self-interest, he added.

"They want to break Pakistan-China friendship. The US is doing this for India and also for its own interest," Lodhi said.

Terror Funding : NIA arrests 7 Separatist Leaders from J&K

Highlights
  • The NIA has arrested 7 people for allegedly funding terror groups in J&K.
  • Among the arrested is Altaf Shah, the son-in-law of Hurriyat leader SAS Geelani.
  • The NIA probe seeks to identify chain of players behind financing of terrorist activities in Valley.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested seven people, including the son-in-law of separatist leader SAS Geelani, for allegedly funding terror groups in Kashmir.

The seven are Altaf Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Mehraj Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Naeem Khan and Bitta Karate.

Shah is the son-in-law of hardline Hurriyat leader Geelani, Islam is a close aide of moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Akbar is the spokesperson for the Geelani-led Hurriyat. Geelani suspended Khan from the basic membership of Hurriyat conference in May, days after a sting operation surfaced in which he purportedly confessed to receiving funds from Pakistan to create unrest in the Kashmir Valley.

Hafeez Saeed, the Pakistan-based chief of the Jamaat-ud Dawa, the front of the banned Lashker-e-Taiba, has been named in the FIR as an accused, in addition to organisations such as the Hurriyat Conference (factions led by Geelani and separatist Mirwaiz Farooq), Hizbul Mujahideen and Dukhtaran-e-Milat.

NIA had last month raided the Srinagar house of Shah, who is the son-in-law of separatist leader SAS Geelani. Apart from being the son-in-law of Geelani, Shah is perceived to be influential in the evolving the policies of the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.

The NIA had also searched the premises of others like Shahid-ul-Islam, an aide of Farooq's, who heads the moderate faction of the Hurriyat Conference. The raids were part of the NIA's efforts to clamp down on separatist groups allegedly receiving funds for subversive activities in the Valley.

The NIA had recovered some account books, Rs 2 crore in cash and letterheads of banned terror groups, including the LeT and the Hizbul Mujahideen, during its searches. The agency's investigation seeks to identify the chain of players behind the financing of terrorist activities, including pinpointing those who pelted stones at security forces, burnt down schools and damaged government establishments.

This is the first time since the rise of militancy in Kashmir in the early 1990s, that a central probe agency has carried out raids in connection with the funding of separatists.

In 2002, the income tax department had conducted searches against some separatist leaders including Geelani and seized cash and documents. However, no criminal case was registered then.
