Attari, Amritsar: Six people, including two women, were arrested at the Attari railway station in Punjab on Thursday while they were returning from Pakistan on the Samjhauta Express. Eleven pistols and 20 magazines were seized from them.

Customs officials said all those arrested belong to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and had been visiting relatives in Pakistan. The weapons were concealed in the base of meat grinders, which were cut open with gas cutters at the railway station.

Sources said there was intelligence that some people from Muzaffarnagar, which was the epicentre of riots in September last year, could be used as couriers to smuggle in arms.

The six people were detained at about 1.30 on Thursday afternoon as they alighted from the Samjhauta Express, a train that runs twice a week between India and Lahore in Pakistan. They were interrogated till late in the night by officials of the Intelligence Bureau.

All those arrested are currently in custody of intelligence officials. They will be produced before a magistrate in a court in Amritsar later today.

Attari is a small town three km from the Pakistan border and about 25 km away from Amritsar.

Officials said all six were to have traveled by bus to Delhi and then back to UP, where they were to have allegedly delivered the weapons.

In September last year, riots tore through Muzaffarnagar district. Over 60 people were killed in the communal violence over three weeks and thousands were left homeless and in distress through a bitterly cold winter.

These are only pistols and magazines, something you can get all over India for as less as few thousand rupees.

    Something fishy here.

How is this related to this thread?

And why does your esteemed newspaper shy away from publishing larger pictures? What does it need to hide?

BtW, our IOF dosn't produce the AK'S as shown in the first picture.

A-7, clone of AK-47 line was closed long ago. And we our-self import from Romania and Bulgaria :rofl:

PS: I didn't find 'Burnol' in the list, strange, your officers must-have used ( and emptied) those.:rofl:
Thus rendering it useless for display.

as per the news we get, Pakistan now has a Taliban in every state, who are too well equipped with war arms, in fact....... apart from daily news of target killings in Sindh/Karachi, and ongoing WOT in north west region, along with troubled Baluchistan itself, we have even Punjabi Taliban look like as below. here, what exactly they don't have which they would get from India? :ranger:

India’s growing gun culture a concern
There are an estimated 40 million firearms in the hands of Indian civilians. But only about 6.3 million of these are registered

Oh! I never knew Afridi was into the business mentioned in the below link.
Asia Times Online :: Smuggled drugs save lives in Pakistan

Being from Afridi clan must-have had it's own advantage for the above mentioned business.

I don't blame him though, being associated exclusively with Pakistani cricket doesn't generate sufficient income even to buy under-wear even if those are heavily discounted one's from Inzamam's hosiery unit.
