Musharraf will land in jail and then hanged: Dr Qadir - thenews.com.pk
ISLAMABAD: Renowned nuclear scientist and founder of Tehrik-e-Tahaffaz Pakistan Party (TTPP) Dr Abdul Qadir Khan has predicted that former President General Pervez Musharraf would be consigned to prison as soon he lands on Pakistan's soil.
In a brief chat with 'The News' after book launching of 'Before Memory Fades,' written by former ambassador Mian Abdul Wahid in Islamabad Club Sunday afternoon, Dr Qadir said Musharraf would be languishing in prison for a longer period of time before he is hanged like a convict murderer. "I am sure that he would be handed over to Balochistan authorities immediate after returning home in the assassination case of Nawab Muhammad Akbar Bugti," he said.
He said that the former president has no future as free man in Pakistan as he spent sinful and criminal life in Pakistan. The ceremony was also attended by former Foreign Minister Inamulhaq and General Musharraf's buddy Ahmad Raza Khan Kasuri and his wife.
Dr Abdul Qadir Khan who was the chief guest in the ceremony was surrounded by his admirers and secured his signatures on the book that has revealed a number of events of four decades pertaining to the foreign affairs and the then rulers when the author had been occupying various conspicuous slots.
Talking about politics Dr Qadir said his party had already entered in an accord with the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) after getting registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and we are in the process of establishing contacts with other parties as we would comprehensively take part in the upcoming polls. The ECP has already allotted us 'missile' as election symbol, he said.
He said no one has contacted them for consultations regarding the appointment of the caretaker prime minister, adding that he had asked Nawaz Sharif the other day that he (Nawaz) has given birth to so many problems for the country by not agreeing for inclusion of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to forge a unified Muslim League. The Chaudhry had been associated with Gen Musharraf but Amir Muqam and Marvi Memon were also buddies of the General and they are now sitting with him in his PML-N. They too were among the closest people of Musharraf, Dr Qadir said.
The nuclear scientist emphatically denied the allegations against him regarding the proliferation and smuggling of nuclear capabilities to other countries. The allegation was fabricated by the enemies of Pakistan in whose hands Musharraf was playing. The credit for protecting and developing the nuclear programme goes to late General Muhammad Ziaul Haq and Z A Bhutto, he added.
Addressing the book launching Dr Qadir, for the first time, divulged that annual expense during the development of Pakistan's n nuclear programme was less than $25 million. It was spend under strict auditing and scrutiny. Perhaps it was the most economical nuclear project in the world history. There was no question of any pilferage in it, he said.
He reminded that once the briefing was given about the nuclear programme of the country, and as soon it was told that the country had spend US $250 million on the programme, former Army Chief General Aslam Beg caught his head with utter astonishment as earlier the impression was given that the programme was costing the country $1 billion every year.
Dr Qadir said those misperceptions were spread about the programme by the foes of the country deliberately. Former Secretary ECP Kunwar Muhammad Khan Dilshad demanded that Dr Qadir should be made president of the country in recognition of his unparallel services for Pakistan as he made the country's defence impregnable.
He was the view that the author of the book has thrown light on the facts and described whole truth. Dilshad said that the bureaucrats and politicians had been hindering the progress and development of the country.
