The grand strategist Musharraf, whose half-baked Kargil strategy backfired on him and his country, loses on his election strategy with the poll panel (or his bete noire Shariff) checkmating him. Musharaff has been kicked out of the elections, even as he cannot leave the country because of a Supreme Court order. He is facing treason charges punishable with death.
Imagine Musharraf out of power and unable to leave a country ruled by Shariff, whom he had banished to Saudi Arabia and who now seems to enjoy Saudi patronage in plenty!!
Musharraf out of election race | Pakistan | DAWN.COM
CHITRAL: Former military ruler Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, who had returned to Pakistan to contest the May 11 polls, has been kicked out of the election race.

The former military strongman's nomination papers were rejected from NA-32 Chitral, after being earlier disqualified from three other constituencies.

Earlier in the day, an election tribunal had decided against an appeal filed by Musharraf challenging the returning officer's rejection of his nomination papers for NA-48 (Islamabad-I).

The returning officer had rejected Musharraf's nomination after objections were raised on it saying the retired general had subverted the Constitution as army chief and had illegally placed judges under house arrest.

Musharraf's appeal for NA-139 (Kasur-II) was also rejected by an election tribunal in Lahore. The tribunal said the former president had abrogated the Constitution thrice and thus did not qualify to contest in the coming general election.

His comeback is proving to be a bigger blunder than Kargil  it proves that he is mentally unfit and his decision of Kargil was also foolish!

Not only did he piss off Sharif, but along with that, he also pissed off the judges. Now, don't forget the Lal Masjid case. There too he has pissed off quite a few people. Upto that, what he did, he did. Now, for him to return, was indeed a very foolish act. Just like Kargil, he overestimated himself.

Insanely amazing!

Born in India, migrated to Pakistan, hated and called out as a muhajir, went on to join the army, ran away from the army, cheated death 4 times as he claims, to become the chief of his army to doing a coup and subverting the constitution as the dictator who wielded power like none other, with the military, the judiciary, the corporate biggies, all backing him to running away from the very country he once dictating his terms, to being pretty much nobody, and with prospects of facing a jail term till death!

A journey of many lives shaped in one. Indian film industry people must be wondering how did they miss out on this one.

Tough, I seriously doubt the jail term, because the army chaps and more so the generals of the PA are holy cows who can never be punished for their sins. My sense is, the judges of Pakistan, by humiliating him, have had their revenge partly, and now they will drag his cases for a pretty long time. Musharraf should get used to saying your highness with his head bowed in-front of the judge, and be ready to make innumerable visits to the courts.

Too bad for Musharraf.

He thought he would appear gutsy by returning to Pakistan.

Their Supreme Court has ordered that he cannot be allowed out of Pakistan.

He was disqualified from contesting on two seats, but allowed one at Chitral.

And now the poor old sod has been told he cannot contest!

Pakistan's jaws close in on him with a death like grip!

The One who claimed to have returned as a Saviour, is now looking like a Fool and Humour out of Uniform!

Tarek Fatah calls Musharraf a Mohajir who pretends to be a Punjabi and Imran Khan a Punjabi who pretends to be a Pathan.

Musharraf on the run after bail cancellation | Pakistan | DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Thursday escaped from the premises of the Islamabad High Court after the cancellation of his bail application by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in the judges detention case.

Immediately after the bail cancellation, police tried to reach the former military ruler but he was escorted by his personal security, fleeing in his bullet-proof black four-wheeler.

Musharraf had arrived at the IHC for the hearing and a large contingent of police and Rangers personnel was stationed at the court's premises for security purposes.

Earlier last week, the former military ruler was granted a six-day interim bail after he surrendered before the court in the judges' detention case in which he had been declared a proclaimed offender.

The case is based on an FIR against the retired general registered in August 11, 2009 on the complaint of Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman advocate.

He had asked the police to initiate legal proceedings against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after proclamation of a state of emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.
