Several injured in Munich knife attack, suspect on the run – German police

An unidentified knifeman has attacked and wounded several people in downtown Munich, local police reported, adding that the perpetrator is still at large.
Local law enforcement told residents not to leave their homes. The suspect has been described as a man in his 40s. There has been no mention of any motive for the assault so far. The suspect is also carrying a backpack, according to a police tweet.

Bild reported a police helicopter in the sky over the area, while police cars and ambulances are visible on the spot with many people looking on.

Meanwhile, Munich police cautioned against “unhelpful speculation” and urged the public to wait for further statements from the authorities. According to the Munich Fire Department, five people sustained “light injuries” during the assault. Police say there are conflicting reports as to which way the perpetrator fled.

Pakistani migrant arrested for trying to blow up a church in Mannheim, Germany
A 24-year-old Pakistani migrant has been arrested for trying to destroy a church tower by causing a ‘gas explosion’.

On the morning of Tuesday December the 5th, the suspect was arrested during a police raid on his house. According to German media the man has been living for several years in the country and didn’t migrate recently. They did not communicate if he was a “refugee” or not.

The St. Hildegard church was set on fire on the evening of 17 October this year. Gas and an explosive were used to try and blow up the tower of the church. Fortunately, there was no big explosion and the resulting fire could be put out by the quickly responding fire brigade. According to witnesses there were two men seen near the church.

The police are still looking for the other man. They say he is between 20 and 30 years old, 170cm, has black hair and a black beard. There’s no composition image of him available.
