SANGLI (Maharashtra): Noting that no party can come to power at the Centre on its own, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said coalition politics has come to stay in the country and asked like-minded parties to come together.

Samajwadi Party, with 22 MPs in the Lok Sabha, provides crucial outside support to Congress-led UPA-II at Centre and Yadav's statement assumes significance ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"Coalition government is the need of the country as no single party can come to power at Centre on its own strength," he told a public meeting.

"It is high time that parties, having the common goal to achieve social change, come together as in Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh," Yadav said.

Referring to his party organization, he said, "Samajwadi Party is no more a party of seniors but one comprising youths and women. That is why Akhilesh became chief minister of Uttar Pradesh."

Yadav, who had served as defence minister in the United Front coalition government in 1996, linked "growing expenditure" on defence sector to the plight of farmers in the country.

"China which supports farmers and agriculture sector is far ahead of India. Farmers are paying the price for growing expenditure on defence sector, which is the result of not-so-cordial relations of India with neighbours Pakistan, China and Bangladesh. There is dire need to help farmers," he said.

He was speaking at a function to commemorate the first death anniversary of veteran freedom fighter and pioneer of cooperative movement in Maharashtra, Nagnath Anna Naikwadi, at Valva village in the western Maharashtra district.

No politician makes me as white with anger as this Mulayam Yadav fellow. He is a poisonous politician.

Oye Mulayam, China is ahead because they gave up shitty socialistic policies. You were the one who wanted to ban English and computers in 2009, we remember that well. People like you have no right to survive in Indian politics anymore.

Give up your nasty politically motivated socialism, think for the country and stop playing populism and vote bank politics. You are the worst offender of all, across the political spectrum. Once you and your fellow poisonous socialist pals get the basic sense to do this, India will begin catching up with China.

No ! he has almost 40 years of experience in Politics.

I think , he is making political space to get more concession from Congress so that later would give larger financial package for UP.

    Good for UP !

Yadavs are with Mulayam , come what may.

But Yadavs are not enough in order to secure power in UP,He needs other community too like Rajput ,Muslims etc.

In modern day government can not run without development which can not happen without money.

These kind of are more like leeches they do not cause pain but run you dry of blood and when you come to know it is too late. When country is bleeding these types see an opportunity to feast on it's blood.

There is no Jadhav in UP, it's Jatav instead.

Dalit vote bank already fractured that's why BSP lost in 2012!

But fracturing is minor not major one.

Coalition government is good in a idealistic scenario but in our case it's worst possible form of government as it is always compromised, indecisive & ineffective. This type of govt. forms on the ideology looting, buying , horse trading & blackmailing. When so many laws gets compromised while forming such a govt. what one expect from such types of govt. It results in Chaos not in democracy.

In a country which have more than 700 recognized languages and 2000 dialects are spoken, coalition politics is a reality, deal with it.

If he bites me at least I can slap him away.

He is unfortunately, sapping the collective blood of the nation and spreading poison of a very nasty kind. He is casteist, communalist, goondaraj, backward, socialistic (licence raj socialistic), retrograde, divisive and substandard.

When educated people like you say, "Yadavs are with him, no matter what", it kinda shows why UP is the way it is.

One more recent nugget from this retrograde Mulayam Singh Yadav:

Politicians united against women: Hey, stalking is romantic! | Firstpost

If you are not illiterate and uneducated and you still support SP, you are anti-national. You are pushing the country backwards and towards anarchy and poverty.

And let me repeat: this was the guy who said in 2009 that he would "ban English and Computers" if he came to power.

When Mayawati first came to power and started her statue erecting spree, I thought she was the worst thing to happen to UP. But in retrospect, I can say with complete confidence that among the two of them Mayawati is much much better anyday. I would pick Maya over Mulayam anyday, anytime.
