According to TIME magazine while Modi won readership poll due to large number of readers from India, he has failed to make to the list of eight finalists.

Finalists are Alibaba group head Jack Ma, Ebola caregivers, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Fergusan protesters, singer Taylor Swift, National Football League commissioner Roger Stokoe Goodell and Masoud Barzani — the Kurdish politician who has led the Iraqi-Kurdistan region since 2005.

BBC reporting that Barzani was only included as Including ISIS chief would be very controversial.

Funny how Hitler was good enough for Time magazine but Modi is not. I heard the vast majority of votes overall were still from the USA not India.

Hopefully he's still in the race for MTV's person of the year

    Putin deserves it.

Just curious: Why is this a big deal?

Last time I check, Mr Modi is still your PM not a Bollywood star. His success depends on his management of India, not how many time his picture can be found on US magazine.

Actually this what TIME magazine said

" strong showing of readers from India helped drive Modi’s first-place finish."

    http://time.com/3623165/narendra-modi-india-time-person-of-the-year-poll/

Modi received 16% of votes and 17% of viters were from India.
Acc. To Jason Worland of Time 80% of Indians voted for modi whereas American votes were divided among many.

It is not a big deal we are just having fun. If you want to get really practical then pretty much everything we discuss online is not a big deal. India is unlikely to fight a real serious war with Pakistan, China isn't going to invade anyone, Russia and the USA aren't going to come to blows, all these tanks and planes we discuss daily will be far outdated and replaced before they are likely to ever see combat. At some point you have to let the imagination fly a little and have some fun.

as @Sylex21 said, it is not a big deal at all. Most Indians don't know what time magazine is and in the reminder most won't know that there is a person of the year where Modi was on the internet ballot.
A few of us like to blow things out of proportion because it is fun and we know from competition that crying babies get the milk

Why the constant need of white man's approval in Indian media. Indian MSM journos are intellectual slaves of western thinking.
