So, Modi has binned Vajpayee's policy. Is it a sacrilege? Or is a relook and pragmatism to reality is need of the hour? The Congress folks at the drop of a hat (or Gandhi cap) used to commence all their meets with a session of spinning the charka just as our good Mahatma used to do. How come they have discontinued this noble practice? Imagine the 'uninterrupted and uninterruptible' Mani Shanker, with pretensions to Doon School culture which is sadly conspicuous by his boorish behaviour and language, squatting uncomfortable on a chadar, attempting to spin cotton, when he is more comfortable spinning yarns! Or Khurshed, spinning as he sings along in Oxion laced Urdu. Sonia Gandhi, of course, would have no clue of spinning yarn (cotton, that is) since that is not a pursuit in the land where she was born. However, she would do marvellously to spin steel around her son to protect him from those Congressmen who are jealous of him for leading from one defeat to another. That apart, my binning the Vajpayee model, would it affect India's picking up the thread of Aman ke rasta hereinafter? The jury seems to be out. What say you?
