(CNN) – It's not a sight you'll see very often: two Marines holding umbrellas above President Barack Obama and Turkey's prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

After sprinkles turned into a steady shower of rain midway through his Rose Garden press conference, Obama called over two Marines to hold the umbrellas aloft.

Regulations prohibit Marines from using umbrellas while in uniform. One reason: it makes it hard to salute.

According to Marine Corps spokesman Capt. Greg Wolf, the sight of uniformed Marines holding umbrellas is "extremely rare" and only happened because the president needed it.

And, of course, Obama is the commander-in-chief. If he orders Marines to hold umbrellas, they hold them, even if they can't properly salute.

CNN Pentagon Producer Larry Shaughnessy contributed to this report.

If I am in the lawn, and it starts to rain, I usually go inside a building, instead of standing in the rain and holding an umbrella.

Saluting is not important, if it gives the impression to the world over TV that the US is a wet chicken!

The American Republicans then have "(STO) Small Things Obsession"...
You American Democrats would like to believe the emerging scandals in the Obama administration are small matters. We'll see.

The Republicans are hard at work trying to scratch Obama's Teflon image... Good luck! And with Hillary next in line the Republicans will be losers again...

Tim Carney: For Barack Obama, speech isn't free when it criticizes him | WashingtonExaminer.com

Benghazi. The IRS targeting the Tea Party. Feds snooping on the Associated Press. These dizzying controversies around the Obama administration all carry the same lesson:

Watch what you say.

On Benghazi, set aside for a moment the dust-ups over State Department officials changing talking points, White House officials misleading the media, and congressional Republicans misrepresenting administration emails. Go back to what the administration was saying just after the deadly Sept. 11, 2012, attacks on the U.S. diplomatic facility.

Many administration officials -- although they may have known better -- blamed the attack, and thus the death of four Americans, on a bad YouTube video called "The Innocence of the Muslims."

Protests outside the U.S. Embassy in Egypt did use the video as a pretext, and White House spokesman Jay Carney responded by calling the video "reprehensible and disgusting." Obama publicly attacked the filmmaker as "sort of a shadowy character who made an extremely offensive video. ..."

Later that month, federal officials arrested this "shadowy character" for probation violations related to making the video.

From the administration falsely blaming the video for Benghazi, to the White House's repeated denunciations, to the federal arrest, the message is clear: Watch what you say.

On the IRS debacle, the speech being policed isn't even offensive -- unless you find it abhorrent to criticize big government or President Obama.

The queries the IRS rained on Tea Party groups in 2010 were aimed at discerning just how political these groups were. What books will your book clubs be discussing? Tell us about your donors -- will any of them run for office?

While targeting Tea Party groups was clearly inappropriate, some of the IRS' questions were actually in keeping with federal law, which restricts 501(c)(4) groups' freedom to oppose candidates for office. This is problematic in itself because it puts the IRS in the business of telling Americans, "Watch what you say about politicians."

The IRS policing political speech is troubling for many reasons. The agency has the power to tax, and thus the power to destroy. Also, IRS employees are overwhelmingly Democrats, campaign finance data suggest. The result is powerful and sometimes partisan officials, acting on little legislative guidance to determine whether a group is "primarily engaged in promoting in some way the common good" and whether it is "participat[ing] in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to" any candidates.

The decision to target Tea Party groups doesn't seem to have come from Washington, but the deep distrust of these groups sure did. When critics showed up at town halls in 2009 to criticize Obamacare, the White House attacked the protesters and questioners as "manufactured" and "funded by K Street lobbyists."

Speech and debate are important. Political speech -- specifically, criticism of people in power -- is the primary reason the First Amendment exists. Does anyone think it's healthy to have the IRS interrogating grass-roots groups and warning "watch what you say about the president"?

Finally, the administration secretly tracked the phone calls of the Associated Press to root out who leaked the report of a drone strike. Then the CIA told AP to hold off on the story so that Obama could announce it first.

This has a chilling affect on journalists. But it's also the latest salvo in the Obama administration's war on whistleblowers. Liberal writer Jane Mayer wrote in 2011 that Obama has used "the Espionage Act to press criminal charges in five alleged instances of national-security leaks -- more such prosecutions than have occurred in all previous administrations combined."

More than any of its predecessors, the Obama administration tells its underlings, "Watch what you say."

All of these stories broke this month. But the Obama team has shown intolerance to dissent from the beginning. Remember during the Obamacare debate when the White House asked Americans to report any "fishy" emails about the health care bill? Linda Douglass, communications director for Obama's Office of Health Reform, said at the time her job includes collecting "disinformation" about Obamacare -- probably stuff like, if you like your health plan, you might not be able to keep it.

The three scandals of the past two weeks differ in their severity and in the White House's level of culpability. But they all have the same message: "My fellow Americans, watch what you say."

Obama is a narcissist.
Obama's just getting better and better » Chuck Pinkey » The Daily Star, Oneonta, NY - otsego county news, delaware county news, oneonta news, oneonta sports
I've always been an admirer of President Barack Obama. One can only marvel at a man who writes his autobiography before he does anything noteworthy.

Some critics have labeled him a narcissist, but I say it's just good, old American can-do attitude. You have to appreciate a man who has never experienced the complexities of a paper route or the discipline of the Boy Scouts becoming President, and leading the world's largest economy and commanding history's most powerful military.

Upon taking command, he was faced with severe economic troubles, due to the actions of Presidents Carter, Clinton and Bush and the failed economic programs of a Democratic Congress. Hundreds of thousands of jobs were being lost, the car companies were going broke, and many major banks were failing. The National Debt stood at $10.6 trillion and unemployment hovered at 8 percent.

One may have expected a cautious approach with reduced spending and targeted low-interest loans like those seen in the Chrysler bailout of 1979, but no! To counter reckless spending and poor investment that caused this chaos, President Obama saw what few others did. He boldly proposed more of the same.

Almost a trillion dollars were spent on a stimulus package, "green energy" companies were lent hundreds of millions, GM became government and union-owned, yet unemployment still hovers near 8 percent, the Italians own Chrysler, Washington spends about $1.3 trillion more each year than it takes in, and the National Debt stands at almost $17 trillion.

So, what's the big deal? It's just the economy, but even on the energy front, his approach was unique. The "green energy" loans went bust, but that's OK! Five hundred million here, four hundred million there, who's counting? After all, if they had only worked, then we wouldn't need those pesky little things like natural gas, offshore drilling and the Keystone Pipeline.

On other issues, my president has grabbed the bull by the horns. In a brilliant move of class warfare, he has gone after the evil, selfish rich. We just want them to pay their fair share. However, we're not selfish demanding more of their money, so says my president.

Soon, we had other bold initiatives like "Fast and Furious" which involved selling guns to the Mexican Drug Cartel, and supposedly tracing them for some noble purpose. Only one American, aka "a bump in the road," was killed, but had it only worked, some positive gun control legislation may have resulted.

Possibly the boldest and most misunderstood initiative was Obamacare. What brilliance to place the enforcement of health care in the hands of the IRS, whom we all respect and trust. Also, let's not forget the so-called push to socialism that President Obama, in his heart of hearts, admires. Many times he has mentioned Europe and countries like Sweden.

Yes, Sweden! The land of Vikings and Nordic beauties. I recently saw a picture of the Swedish Women's Olympic Beach Volleyball Team. Maybe socialism isn't so bad? However, getting back to business, in Socialist Sweden EVERYBODY has a modest home, decent health care, good food, a job, and that's about it. Kind of like a dairy cow! Hey, how can you beat that?

Four years into his presidency and he had the misfortune of having a terrorist attack happen on 9/11/2012, just two month before the presidential election. What bad timing! Put yourself in my poor president's place.

When you've prided yourself on protecting America, how can you admit, during an election (especially after you've proclaimed that "Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive"), that terrorists attacked our embassy and killed an ambassador and three other Americans, aka "a bump in the road?"

What's more important? The truth, that their cries for help went unanswered and the attack was covered up as a spontaneous protest, or the necessity of getting my man re-elected? The election, of course!

Now, we have the partisan Republicans continuing to dig into this Benghazi thing, and if that's not bad enough, President Obama's boys at the IRS have been accused of harassing conservative groups like the Tea Party. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that the groups targeted are anti-Obama.

My president is innocent. He only heard about the IRS scandal on the evening news of May 10, just like the rest of us, but regrettably, those around him continue to "poop in their derby."

It appears that the Justice Department has seized the Associated Press' phone records. I have no doubt that the Obama administration had good reason (of course my president had no prior knowledge of this, either), and little things like the Constitution and the law should not stand in their way.
