VK Singh rubbishes Manish Tewari's troop movement claim, calls him 'jobless'

Union minister and former Army chief General VK Singh on Sunday dismissed senior Congress leader Manish Tewari's claim that the Indian Express story on non-notified movement of troops towards Delhi from neighbouring Haryana in 2012 was true.

"Manish Tewariji has nothing to do these days. There is this book of mine, ask him to read it and every thing will be clear to him," Singh told reporters.

At an event in Delhi on Saturday, Tewari had brushed aside allegations that the news item published on April 4, 2012 was fake. The former information and broadcasting minister said the unexpected movement of troops was "unfortunate, but the story was true".

"At that time, I used to serve in the standing committee of defence. And it is unfortunate, but the story was true. The story was correct," Tewari said, adding that he is not interested in "getting into an argument" over it.

The Indian Express had reported that late on the night of January 16, 2012 - the day then Army chief General VK Singh approached the Supreme Court on his date of birth issue - central intelligence agencies had reported an unexpected and non-notified movement towards the capital by a key military unit from the mechanised infantry based in Haryana's Hisar, 150km away.

The troops were from the 33rd Armoured Division, which is a part of 1 Corps, a strike formation based in Mathura and then commanded by General Singh. The former Army Chief had later called the Indian Express report "absolutely stupid".

Even congis are running away from Manish Tivari. They don't want to sound anti-army just few days after Pathankot attack.

Well i feel some truth in it,Gen V K singh a 1st Rajput regiment officer,it is the same Regiment which refused to move Ayodhya in the wake of Babri demolition because Lord Ram is consider the patron of the Regiment.

But then why would Gen need to move troops from agra, where there were already lakhs of troops nearby Delhi in different cants.

    conspiracy:
supposedly if we believe that troop movement is true to take over GOI. Congress would have committed the most corrupt deal and it must be anti national. And Vk singh must have got the proof to support coup to claim people backing. What is that Vk singh done to make congress so nervous to negate its own tiwari :) any unknown answers happened or not for unknown question.

Nothing can be said with certainty, because of the discipline of Indian army, I'm afraid there would've been an internal revolt among the Army, a Army faction supporting V k singh and another supporting the constitution and Government (congress supporting corrupt Generals)

    Like BDR mutiny in Bangladesh.
