While Didi is being lampooned ceaselessly for her silly tantrums, here is one issue on which she might be correct. Sharing of Teesta as envisaged by central govvernment would mean injustice to WB. Let us share resources with our neighbours, but in a fair way and not at the cost of our own people. Hope Didi manages to get her way on this one.

We can sign a treaty with BD but make sure our interests are taken care of.

As far as Indus Water Treaty is concerned, India draws flak in spite of following it in letter and spirit and sacrificing its own interests. Rather we not follow and take care of our interests and take the flak. Even if it leads to war, who cares. We will win the war and solve the root cause itself.

    Where are the statistics?

How much water is required to flush away the silt and also how much is required for irrigations?

By building canals will it optimise the water management for irrigation? There is hardly any irrigation canals in Bengal.B

But then if water is diverted for irrigation, would it not make the Hooghly non navigable (the little that is there) because it will not have the force to flush the already choked, and choking up by the day, Hooghly?
