Mahindra makes MPVI out of Ural Chassis
I'm still waiting for the Axe to be procured.
BAe Casspir. The Mahindra MPVI looks very similar to it. The Mahindras have tied up with BAe, and have made the Mahindra MPVI using the Ural-4320 chassis as the donor vehicle. The body shell is made using technology from BAe, using special mine resistant steel, that is imported form Sweden. With a $350,000 list price for the basic variant this vehicle is intended for the Indian army's MRAP competition. The engine is a Yamaz-236NE2 and the transmission is also Russian, with a Yamaz-236U gear box. It weighs 14.32 tons and sits 18 soldiers.
Original Ural-4320 with a tipper, made by Ural India Ltd. (notice the steering wheel)
This is the armoured truck the Russians made out of the Ural.
The company is called Defense Land Systems India Limited (DLS) a joint venture company from Mahindra and BAE.
We can expect more to come out of this company in the future.
It's basically a Casspir Mk.6.
