Amid tight security, counting of votes for the Maharashtra polls is being held across 288 centres at 269 locations in the state, while for the Haryana assembly polls, counting is underway at 90 centers set up in 57 places in the state.

Maharashtra is witnessing a five-cornered contest (Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) with 4,119 candidates in the fray. BJP had fielded 280, Congress 287, NCP 278, Shiv Sena 282, BSP 260, MNS 219 CPI 34 and CPM had fielded 19 candidates. Of the 288 constituencies, including 36 constituencies in Mumbai, 234 are general, 29 reserved for Scheduled Castes and 25 for Scheduled Tribes.

This will also be the first elections in Maharashtra after established political formations - Shiv Sena-BJP and Congress-NCP crumbled and the parties contested alone after almost 15 years.

In Haryana, the fate of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government, which is aiming at a third successive term, and the BJP, which is eyeing to form a government on its own, will be decided. The result of who will come out victorious from the 1351 candidates in the high-stakes battle among top contenders Congress, BJP and INLD in a multi-cornered contest is sealed in the EVM machines. During the 2009 Assembly elections, Congress had won 40 seats, INLD 31, BJP four, HJC-BL six, SAD and BSP one each and Independents seven.

Rajdeep Sardesai and old coterie is at their best today and having multiple orgasma as BJP is not getting clear majority is Maharstra....

Even Arnob has joined the band wagon in sadistic pleasure..

After all how does one overcome 65 years efforts in capturing the media.. and making them " secular"..

In a strong four sided battle the BJP comes up with vast lead as single largest party, after years in wilderness .. and Sardesai thinks its not good enough? :D
Its a human led political party, not a bunch of all evaporating holy warriors for God sake !!

Till Bala Saheb was there, SS had a comparable Modi size leader. Now you can't compare Udhhav with NaMo can you?

Was AAP participating in these elections. I read Sagarika Gosh after one of her interview with YY mentioning she is interviewing would be chief minister of Harayana.

NDTV has been making every election post LS as mandate on Modi, but now not even talking about Modi effect.

he got 3 i believe. (correction: not 3 but 1)
his candidates are mostly gundaas and 'bhai,s' similar to Shiv sena. but the SS have brand name coz of Balasaheb thackrey and they wer first major regional party who were campaigning on 'marathi manus' agenda(welfare for marathi ppl). so SS > MNS and there agenda too is somewat similar. Raj is more of anti migration and anti UPwallas.

there is going to be 101% patch up between the BJP and the SS. allying with congress is impossible also there is clash of idealogies. allying with NCP is unlikely although NCP will beg BJP to take them as ally. actually NCP is seen as a 'baingan ki thali' i.e they will swing where there is money or power for them. they can side with congress and on very next election they will try to cozy up with BJP.
BJP has some rules which they like to abide by to consider patnering with other parties to form govt. so only other party which is left is SS. they share a similar idealogy and are hardcore hindutva fanatics.

so i wont be surprissed at all if these two parties come together to form govt.

my prediction for cm post = Devendra fadnavis (BJP).
deputy cm = someone from SS. (uddhav wont be in the govt. he will be a kinda mini kingmaker for deputy cm post)

PS: the only reson BJP and SS wont come together to form govt is if Uddhav tries to play hard ball and demands CM seat.

I think people were looking for more of stability & governance, than spontaneity and theatrics. People change, their choices change.

Raj Thackeray and his party was an artificial creation of Delhi based media.
