You should include the tens of rapes that found way into the media highlight but was diligently brushed aside by the obstinate Chief Minister who is too touchy about any allegation or criticism coming the way of her party and can't be anything save conspiracy against her two and a half year government.
More,I can tell you hundreds just get reported and thousands don't find any way.Molestation is common-its almost like natural.
I don't know why but there is a consistent effort to confine people especially women to their homes after sun-down.Its getting too risky.Worst this phenomenon is same,be it village where even light poles are absent(as in Kamduni) or posh localities(as in Park Street).

What I deduce is that the mere change of leadership or the mere change of ruling colours from red to green isn't going to affect. Its not until Bengali's change themselves. But without an aura doubt the RED regime was anything but better than this GREEN regime.

These days I feel my head hanging in shame on being a Bengali.

As long as we have paralysed governments at the centre and in the states, law & order will breakdown. And the governments seem more interested in cover-ups of their lack of governance rather than focusing on resolving the issues.crime & corruption which have increased! And the policy paralysis isn't helping either. Wake up dear governments, you are in place for serving the country first and then the citizens and unfortunately, you have failed on both counts.

No. AAP will have no impact..

Bengal has seen too much of populism to be taken in by all that!

And then there is some Burrabazar Joe who is leading the membership drive.

Bengal is averse to petty traders.

The AAP has to have some face that is a leading activist if it wants to make a dent.

Sorry to interrupt but I feel turning the tides would need a hard toil.
    And heavy dedication.
And a lot of muscle power.Thugs are with both party and such conceptual party cannot make scratch beyond the cities and maybe towns.Villages definitely not.
And pardon me for saying this but to me it seems the "Muslim Factor" has been more profound these days.So their support===>form government(they do vote en masse).
West Bengal needs a change in mindset followed by a very able leader.Jyoti Basu can be criticized but he knew how to play politics.I personally support many steps which Buddhadev Bhatttacharya took but see the results it produced.A 1000 crore project lying in a grassland, cattle having no crunch of food and the people who opposed it feeding on the Rs 2 a kilo rice provided by the government(add to it the govt delivery factor.)This is where we Bengalis need to think beyond.
