The Chinese genetic fault of showing off seems to have been reined in by Xi.

Thanks to Xi's and government corruption crackdown it has curbed the practice of "gifting", wealthy Chinese consumers are reported to be wary of wearing visibly branded clothes.

    But, is there still hope?

I think the rise of bling in Russia and China was a counter phenomenon to the lack of individuality in Communist system. Now both countries are normalising in that sense.

    this is ridiculous argument.
it is due to fast ecnomic growth. Taiwan, South Korea and Japan have the similar phase before. Even now, many Japanese girls act in adult porn movies just in order to buy a gucci bag
