An Oshkosh 'robotic' truck using the TerraMax autonomous driving system drives along a mud-soaked test course outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Look, no hands: An autonomous truck drives up a hill - the results, among other things, could be more saved lives, less wear and tear on the troops, and reduced fuel consumption

Robotics research is now nearing the stage that the military may soon be able to deploy large ground vehicles capable of performing tasks on their own with little human involvement

Jelcz 442 Bartek

The Jelcz company is a Polish manufacturer, specializing in trucks, busses and other heavy vehicles. The Jelcz 442 or Bartek was designed as a private venture to fit the gap, which appeared when production of the Star 944 and 1466 models was stopped. These are the workhorses of the Polish Army. The Jelcz Bartek is not a militarized version of commercial civil truck, but a purpose-built military vehicle, simple in design and technology.
