A self taught chess master, J. Ramajayam, who was intrioduced to chess by the village mason, is running a chess academy for village kids in Polakkunam in Tamil Nadu. The chess academy has as its assets a chess board, a set of pieces and a chess clock, it is registered with the District Chess Association and functions in the local temple courtyrad. Some of the kids have already won prizes at state level and Sri Ramajayam himself is expecting to get FIDE international rating soon.
