Hyderabad teenage girl cuts short ISIS dreams for unknown reasons - The Times of India

Engineers among 9 ISIS bound Indians deported by Turkey - The Times of India

Nine persons from India, including one from Hassan, have been deported by Turkey after they were allegedly caught trying to cross over to Syria to join the terror outfit ISIS, police say. The group is being questioned by Bengaluru police and central agencies after they arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Sunday. According to police, they went to Istanbul from Bengaluru on tourist visas on December 24, 2014, and were sent back by the Turkish authorities on January 30.

Among those sent back from Turkey are engineers Ibrahim Nowfal, 24, from Hassan and Javeed Baba, 24, from Khammam district, Telangana. The remaining seven belonged to a family from Chennai - Muhammed Abdul Ahad, 46, his wife and their five children.
Police said Ahad has done masters in computer science from Kennedy-Western University, California, US, and worked in the US for more than 10 years.

A senior police officer said Ahad had left India soon after doing his graduation in engineering and was settled in the US. "Two of his children are US citizens, but he still holds an Indian passport," said the police officer. It may be recalled that in December 2014, Bengaluru police had arrested Mehdi Masroor Biswas from the city for operating a pro-ISIS Twitter handle. Biswas owned @ShamiWitness, which had 17,700 followers.Police reportedly found over 12,000 direct messages sent and received from his Twitter account. These messages, the city police claimed, gave them solid evidence to prove Mehdi's role in inspiring youths to be part of the ISIS struggle.
A teenaged girl, originally from Hyderabad and living in Qatar, reportedly tried to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), but had a change of heart. Along with a female colleague, she made her way to Turkey, but returned to Qatar from there. Though the incident took place two months back, it came to light only on Saturday.

The 19-year-old returned to Hyderabad with her parents two months ago and has been quizzed by intelligence officials. Initial reports said that she had made it to ISIS-controlled areas of Iraq and Syria and got disillusioned with its ideology after being employed as a cook. However, police dismissed the reports as baseless. "She did not even make it to Iraq or Syria," Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahender Reddy said here on Saturday.

The girl, along with her family had moved to Doha in Qatar from Hyderabad about 10 years ago. "While she was living in Qatar, a female neighbour lured her towards IS. Together, they tried to go to Iraq but went till Turkey and then returned to Qatar for unknown reasons. This incident took place two months ago,'' the commissioner said. Police said that from Turkey, the girl contacted her parents and joined them at Qatar before coming to Hyderabad. It was after her return to Hyderabad that she was counseled and let off. Officials said that the girl's companion in Qatar was a Turkey national and they came to know each other through a social networking site.

"The girl came under the influence of her neighbour and both used to surf the web extensively for IS material. Soon, the teenager developed a soft corner for the terror group and made up her mind to go to Iraq,'' an official said.
the last guy who came back too said he was made to cook/clean. Then it later after he was interrogated it turned out that he had trained as a suicide bomber. At this rate it seems like they are creating sleeper cells who will be ready to be activated. Also A lot of these guys seem to live outside in places like the middle east, U.S, Singapore and so on (older recruits). Wonder what is the strategy to deal with these sort of returnees.

There was a rumour that the number of Indians in ISIS was above the 1000s.

Re: Latest round of wannabee Indian ISIS Jihadis have deported from Tu

Most of them are educated ..meaning...education for these kind does not cure the fanatism.
Universtities should let them rot in their pathetic lives rather than give admission to future terrorists. So much for minority appassment.

Indian Govt should have a tight clamp and reguation of Madrassas.

Sadly...this is what happened to the 9 returnees: Indians with ISIS leanings freed in Bengaluru - The Times of India

Here is the mindset of an ISIS sympathizer...all the more reason to not let these scums stay here:

Salman sees his family, India as un-Islamic - The Times of India

India is an enemy nation and it is the duty of every Muslim to spread the Islamic State (IS) ideology across the world. This is the world view of Salman Mohiuddin, the 32-year-old ISIS sympathizer from the city.

Cyberabad police and intelligence sleuths gathered this from his confession during the time the accused had been in police custody which ended on Friday. The US trained engineer from Bazarghat in Habeebnagar was caught by the police when he was about to board a Dubai bound flight at RGI Airport on January 16. After the arrest, Cyberabad police alleged that Salman was going to Dubai to join the terrorist organization ISIS. Subsequently, a local court granted police a 10-day custody of Salman on January 21 and, after the completion of interrogation, police produced him in the court on Friday morning. The accused was sent to judicial remand.

During the custodial interrogation, Salman reportedly told the investigators that he was going to Dubai to join ISIS. Salman had a tourist visa and he told the interrogators that from Dubai, he was planning to go to Turkey and from there to Syria to join the terror group. "Salman told us that he had no intention of returning to India and that ISIS operatives and even his friend Nicky, who stays in Dubai, had assured him that he would be sent to Syria from Dubai with the help of ISIS activists without any problem," said a Shamshabad police official who grilled Salman. The interrogators were startled when Salman told them that he considered all non Islamic countries, including India, as enemy nations. "Salman told us that he even considers his own family as un-Islamic as some of them do not adhere to the religious rules like wearing hijab," said an interrogator from the intelligence department.

Salman, in addition to Nicky Joseph alias Ayesha, he had been in contact with alleged ISIS operatives Abu Mohammed of Turkey and Abu Al Barra Al Sami of Syria through social networking sites. However, he never met any of them personally, the accused reportedly confessed. According to Salman, Nicky Joseph's husband Aforaly Paul is a cardiologist working in Dubai and that he met Nicky alias Ayesha through Facebook during his stay in Houston to purse MS a few years ago. It was Nicky who hooked him to the ISIS ideology. Indian intelligence agencies have shared the information about Nicky with their British counterparts.

Salman told the interrogators that he had strongly believed that ISIS' philosophy would erase the problems faced by humanity and especially Muslim population. Salman said that he was distressed by the killing of innocents by the US government forces in Iraq and felt that only ISIS could put an end to such atrocities committed against Muslims.

Among the 2000 plus members in the Facebook group 'Daula News Room' operated by Salman, intelligence sleuths have identified eight persons to be very active participants and placed them under surveillance. The suspects are from various parts of the country including Delhi, Bangalore, Jammu & Kashmir as well as Dubai.

Surprisingly, after all the interrogation and investigation, intelligence sleuths are not yet sure about the genuineness of Nicky Joseph's identity. "We are checking with the British intelligence agencies about Nicky Joseph and nothing has been confirmed yet," said an intelligence official.
