By the best large-calibre cartridge for the sniper firing- the french cartridge of 13,2Ñ…99(96) mm . But from unification of standards of NATO, forgot then about him, because for a large-calibre machine gun there was not a substantial difference. And catridge 14,5Ñ…114 and 20Ñ…88, though and carry in 1,5 time more energy, but badly fly directionally. During WW2, only the experienced snipers, live targets could hit from such rifles.

12,7Ñ…99
13,2Ñ…99
13,2Ñ…96

Why does one want a large calibre sniper rifle:

Large calibre means:
Longer range
Lesser rate of fire
Heavier damages (to pill boxex, bunkers and vehicles and target is not man)
Almost a single shot weapon..
Large areas and longer ranges to dominate...

In present battlefield conditions where is its requirements ?
Except on LC where else ??

On LC India has its AMR which is quite sufficient.

The Gepárd anti-materiel rifles are a family of Hungarian weapons designed to destroy unarmored and lightly armored targets. These long range, large caliber rifles have high accuracy as well as high muzzle velocity. The Gepárds originate from World War I anti-tank rifles developed by the Germans to damage armored vehicles. Since then, anti-materiel rifles fell into disuse. Heavier tanks meant thicker armor, which even the heaviest rifles could not pierce. However, in 1987 the Hungarian army sought to obtain a compact, mobile weapon that could damage lightly armored targets. The project, led by Ferenc Földi (Institute of Military Technology of the Hungarian People's Army), culminated in the creation of the Gepárds.

Gepárd GM-6 Lynx bullpup anti-materiel rifle..

The Gepard GM6 'Lynx' is a semi-automatic anti- material rifle. Thanks to the unique barrel recoil technology (SERO developed), the rifle's recoil is less than the other rifles' in the same category, and it makes its portable size only 915 mm. It operates with standard 12.7x107 Russian or standard .50 Browning rounds, and its penetration capacity is not less than the other destroyer rifles' with longer barrel.

Its Purpose to stop or disable targets such as light armoured vehicles, armoured rifle troops, light shelters and buildings, radio- electronical constructions, missile launchers and hovering helicopters from 600-800 m range.
