Navy refused the newest submarine project "Lada"

"St. Petersburg" will be the only boat of this project, which will be experienced and not a part of the Navy

In the Main Staff of the Navy, "Izvestiya" reported on Wednesday that the testing program of the project "Lada", from which 10 years ago there were plans to upgrade non-nuclear submarine force, had collapsed.

    - In the battle fleet, "St. Petersburg" will not be accepted. This is the final decision. The boat will remain prototypes, which will be tested separate complexes - a senior representative of the Command of the Navy.

The main drawback of "Lada" reported by "Izvestia" described is a crude engine, which proved unable to develop more than half of the given project power.

In addition, the sonar system is not ready by the boat for the development of which was spent 1.3 billion rubles, the combat information management system "Lithium" torpedo "TE-2 toy."

    - Beautiful on a plan of the project was unsuccessful. In fact, we have a full-scale model of the ship. The boat is fully obsolete in a number of important areas. Its defects and the rapid aging of existing diesel submarines are forcing us to return to the order checked "Kilo" - summed up the representative of the Navy.

According to him, work on two other boats of the project "Lada" - "Kronstadt" and "Sevastopol", the body which is fully ready, now frozen. Perhaps they are already tested equip engines from other projects, legacy systems and will be sold abroad.

In the "Admiralty Shipyards" expressed surprise at the rejection of "Lada". According to the plant, Underwater Sound on the boat is already running, there are positive developments and the engines.

    - "Lada" has not yet exhausted its potential. For serious technological refinement and funding from defense contracts, this project can still be saved. Such a decision will be in the interests not only of the Navy, but also to maintain the international image of Russia as a country capable of promoting its own high-tech products in foreign markets - said the representative of "Admiralty Shipyards."

According to the Ministry of Defense, 2020 Navy to buy 10 diesel submarines. Now comes the construction of two "Kilo" who are refining a system of digital communication and control. On other projects, Russian diesel submarines public information is not available.

Diesel-electric "Kilo" developed in the USSR in the 1970s. For quietness and stealth boat was in the West the nickname "Black Hole". Armed with mines, torpedoes and missiles. Exported to China, Vietnam and Algeria. For all the time it was built more than 20 boats of this type.

"Lada" designed as a development project "Kilo" in the 1990s. The first boat, "St. Petersburg" laid back in 1997, and the water was lowered only in 2004. Especially for the "Lada", a new silent motor and about 170 devices and systems that have not been produced in Russia.

ВМФ отказался от новейших подлодок проекта «Лада» - Известия

Any sub that can submerge and resurface is not a failure IMHO, but the deficiencies elaborated here seem to be correctable.
"Every diesel-electric sub is "obsolete" by definition. This does not mean they don't have usefulness.

This clears the field for P75I easily. India doesn't have time to wait for Russia's failed designs.

Iam more concern on its Crew Comfort, Hope its better than present Kilos of IN. From Aircrafts to Tanks and Submarines, The Biggest side-effects of Russian military hardware is its too confusted and uncomfortable.

Thus anyone have any pictures or Video inside of lada class sumarine

Amur looks like a good replacement for the kilos, Besides they are considered to be less cheaper than Scorepne or HDWs.

The biggest problem with Scorpene is whether they can Brahmos modules or not. IN seriously doesnt want to sacrifice Brahmos for Excoets missiles.
