Kerala: Friday prayers shouldn't be affected due to exams

KOCHI: To ensure that Muslim students of class X and XII CBSE schools are able to attend Juma prayers even during the Board exams, the Kerala CBSE School Management Association has asked for change in exam timings. Recently, the directorate of Higher Secondary Education changed the model examination timings of class XII exams to be held on Friday.

In a letter to CBSE chairman, the KCSMA president, TPM Ibrahim Khan said, "There are large number of Muslim students appearing in the Board Examination in the X and XII Standards of CBSE. , the timings of examination is between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm. ... compulsory Juma congregation is between 1 pm and 1.30 pm in India, especially Southern states. If this examination is scheduled to go ahead, lakhs of Muslim students who are above the age of 10 years will be denied their right of prayers violating all the fundamental rights guaranteed to every citizen of India for their practice or religious duties and responsibilities".

"The representatives of various organizations of other communities have taken these kinds of issues when examinations are scheduled during religious holidays of Hindu and Christian communities. The said matter had been considered and their grievances had been redressed", the letter added.

Khan said that they are not demanding any change in the date of exams but requesting change of timings on Fridays. "Considering the dire necessity of a large number of students, it will not cause any difficulties to pre-pone the morning timing from 10.30 am to 10 am and finish the exam by 1 pm instead of 1.30 pm on Friday", said Khan.

Meanwhile, the directorate of Higher Secondary Education on January 7, issued a circular modifying the model examination timings of class XI and XII exam. The exams started February 4 and concluded on Monday. As per the circular for class XI, "The time of commencement of the examination is advanced to 9.30 am" and for class XII, "The examination will begin at 1.30 pm on all days except on Friday. On Friday, the exam will begin only at 2 pm".

Everyone keep voting for pseudo secular parties and then complain.Maybe all Hindus would vote for pro Hindu parties only when we become a minority. When we lose majority status we can hope that we can get some favors.

    Matey,

You are an atheist. What difference does this all make to you? Ok thats a joke.

The problem with Atheism as its understood is inaccurate. You can be an Hindu but still be an Atheist. However you can never be a XTian/Muslim and be an atheist. Dwell over it and re think your name!!
