Kerala Minister for Education PK Abdu Rabb has stated that he doesn't agree with boys and girls sitting together in classes. He made this statement on Tuesday.

There has been a controversy in the state over the recent expulsion of a male student from Farook College in Kozhikode after he sat with girls. The Education Minister stated that either in his personal opinion or as a minister, he didn’t agree with the concept of boys and girls sitting together in class, Malayala Manorama reported.

Dinu K, a male student, was expelled from Farook College, but the Kerala High Courthad stayed the order. Despite this, many in the state have been averse to the idea of boys and girls sitting together on campus. A teacher from another college was asked to leave for posted on his Facebook page that he didn't agree with this gender discrimination.

As reported earlier, a Malayalam professor at Farook College reprimanded five boys and four girls for sitting together on a bench. They were told to return to college only with their guardians.

A first year BA Sociology student, Dinu K, reportedly told media that the professor had told them boys and girls couldn’t sit together as it was against the rules of the college. When one of the female students told the professor that this was gender discrimination, the professor allegedly scolded her and asked students unwilling to follow rules to leave the classroom. The nine students reportedly had to leave the classroom. Dinu who spoke out about the gender discrimination and refused to give an apology letter, was expelled.

Obviously, we know the problem. The solution - missing one is also obvious. Where are the channels that raise such issues? If local players in South have identified this and have their own propaganda pieces, why doesn't the ruling party at the center or better yet their parent body?

PS: The question is more rhetorical than directed at you or anyone else. At this point, I don't expect any different from this government.

This issue been a talking point in all the kerala channels for day.
i would like to hear your and others thoughts about this.
the colleges in kerala use benches not chairs..so will it be uncomfortable for girls to sit with boys ?

Some background: As of now in schools and colleges up to degree level boys and girls sit seperate sides. In pg level classes i guess most of the colleges use chairs and since students also are more mature there is no such seperation. Out side the classroom most of the collages have no restrictions on boys and girls sitting together or chatting etc..but in some collages there are such restrictions too.
In kerala this is widely debated in all news channels..Actually this incident( suspending a boy for sitting with girls) has been in the talking point for.several days.

Boys&girls sitting side by side is crime but selling boys&girls to arab sheikhs is HALAL.It must be renamed as Kerala Jihadi's own country.

Months after more than 450 children from Bihar and Jharkhand were brought illegally to the Mukkam Muslim orphanage in Kerala, it is under the scanner once again. A probe report by the Human Rights Commission (HRC) has revealed that the orphanage violated funding rules and lied about not receiving foreign funds. :frusty:

And never heard a word from MSM and leftist goons on SM.

In Gujarat, which is an imaginary intolerant and communal state for leftists, MSM and International media, girls and boys sit together in many colleges. Even in some schools, they sit together. In PGs, the hostels are common in medical colleges.

You said debated, what are the thoughts of people in Kerala ??

In medical collage level institutions and in higher education colleges they are sit together. Can you confirm that in other school collage levels they use bench ( not separate student type chairs with board) and they sit together ?

I have completed my school days with out talking much to the girls, in college we sat in separate sections in class in a bench, but incollage no others seperation or segregation was there..we could easily talk and mingle without any restrictions. So i am used to that system and I don't see a big deal..but i am not against boys and girls sitting together in a class on a bench if its not congested..after all how differant is that from a girl and boy sharing a seat in a bus or train ? most parents and some girls too however might object to it as it's not somthing they are used to.

Yes, in many colleges they sit together. More precisely, there's no restriction from college institutions, in schools, not all follow the same way, many schools have rules regarding sitting according to roll numbers and many have rules not let them sit together. It's different and depends on institute.
