Kashmiri kids on a Kerala sojourn

KOCHI: School students from Jammu and Kashmir got a feel of Kerala when they came on a two-day visit to Kochi as part of the all-India tour organised by the Indian Army.

Twenty boys accompanied by two teachers are touring India with the aim of giving them an exposure to the diversity, progress and strength of their country. Five personnel from the army, including an officer, are accompanying the students.

During their stay at Kochi, the students and their teachers were hosted by Southern Naval Command. The kids enjoyed their visit on the INS Sarvekshak.

As part of their sightseeing trip, the kids visited the Bolghatty Palace, Hill Palace Museum and Marine Drive. They also spent a day at the Athirappilly waterfalls.

This is the 14th year of the Indian Army programme to introduce the rest of India to the school students of Jammu and Kashmir. "This is a unique opportunity for the children who would otherwise never get an opportunity to see the diverse nature and culture of our country," said an official.

yes it does. kashmiri hindu, buddhist and sikh community wants to be with India. problem persists with kashmiri muslims who are badly exploited by separatists like geelani and mufti. if they are taken out of J&K to tour India then it is beneficial else its just a useless ceremony
