Clashes between police and LKARACHI: Police used tear gas shelling and aerial firing as a rally of Lyari residents tried to enter one of the Red Zones of Karachi.

The participants of the rally tried to move containers placed near Shaheen Complex and make their way towards the Chief Minister House.

Several vehicles were damaged during the clashes while at least four people were injured.

A heavy police contingent has been deployed on I.I. Chundrigar road to ensure to maintain the security situation.

On January 03, Karachi Police banned holding rallies in the Red Zone.

According to Police Chief Akhter Gorchani, the decision was taken in a high-level meeting.

The Red Zones included Supreme Court, Sindh Highcourt, Governor House, Chief Minister House, Sindh Assembly building, Sindh Secretariat, Central Police Office, Rangers Headquarters, office of secret agencies, houses of high profile people, consulates, five star hotels, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Clifton, Defence and various areas of Sadar town.
