The United Kingdom runs on an FPTP system, similar to India's, which means that a party usually only needs around 30% to 40% of the popular vote to win the majority of seats.
The Candidate Parties:
The current prediction is that the Conservative Party will win with a landslide of votes. It currently manages to gain around 40-50% of the popular vote, versus around 25-35% for Labour. It has the support of the majority of over-50s, but only around 20% of youth.
The Labour party has more support among younger people (40%) who dislike the Conservative's attitudes towards socialism (NHS, education, housing, etc...) and would prefer strongly to remain in the European Union.
The Liberal Democrats are the party that seeks to sweep up dissatisfied voters leaving the Conservatives over their ambiguity on the European Union. A recent student poll revealed that around 45% of former Conservative voters had swung to the Liberal Democrats due to Brexit.
SNP are set to do well in Scotland as usual. They will not be affected by the politics of England and are probably going to be the third largest party at the House of Commons (parliament).
I personally urge all British Indians to vote right-wing (or abstain) due to the left-wing's aggressive support for Muslims, and for encouraging racism and tolerating discrimination vis-a-vis Muslims. The Conservative Party are far more supportive of Modi and India!
The Candidate Parties:
- The Conservative Party: It supports a more nationalist approach to Europe, advocates more economically liberal policies, and is generally more hard with Islamophobia. It has a number of Indian-origin MPs and is generally seen as being more benevolent towards Hindus, Buddhists, and Sikhs.
- The Labour Party: It supposedly support a more federalist approach to Europe but has voted in favor of Brexit, it's recent manifesto sees it support far more economically socialist policies, and it is has a huge supporter base among Muslims.
- SNP: It's fervently supportive of the EU, advocates mainly socialist policies, and is generally more neutral in terms of the Hindu-Muslim divide but it's center-left leaning and I would view it with suspicion.
- UKIP: It's hardline nationalists and hates the EU, it supports socialism, and is generally very hardline Islamophobic.
- Liberal Democrats: It's centrist between the Conservatives and Labour. It supports the EU strongly, thinks that low income people need to be protected, and it is generally tolerant of the left-wing's support for Muslims.
- Other parties include: Greens, Plaid Crymu, DUP, and Sinn Fein.
