Do you know in UP, Bihar etc only 60% of the electricity which is offered to the public, has its revenue collected i.e. 40 % of the money goes to waste.

Please do spare a thought for the lower middle class, how they bear this burden. People are already speaking of avoiding Tea and coffee and/or anything to do with milk now.

    I don't underestimate JJ.

She must have some Machiavellian scheme afoot!

She speaks very softly, but carries a big stick!

Made many a govt at Delhi cry all the oceans of the world!

And in other states, each and every penny is paid? Only Up and Bihar are the problem, so rates in TN has to be lowered further right?

I only meant as an example. BTW this was stated by the Power Authority of India in a seminar, ifyou have problems I suggest you take it up with them.
Please do tell me why the prices in TN have to be hiked (it can remain the same) ?

let me tell you something what you were saying was true about 7-8 years back. electricity theft and non payment of bils was a normal scene .people would rarely get electricity for more than 10 hrs in villages. Now scene is that there is minimum 20 hrs electricity supply even in villages and there is no electricity theft. Once government decided that enough is enough more than 90 % of dues were cleared and electricity board is in profit. I know that because I know few people sitting in state electricity board office . I have been In TN and in my experience electricity tariff is one of highest there . Once you cross 400 units in a onth they will start charging 10 rs per unit . I remember we had to pay 6000 rs in one month . If I am correct then for commercial connections charge was flat 10 rs per unit.

Boss, first I didn't got the logic of interlinking the hikes in TN with the condition in UP and Bihar. And prey tell me why the rates are not supposed to be hikes, I think the news item mentioned the reasons behind hiking the rates, so are you trying to convey that is all bogus, and state government is hiking the rate just for some pleasure.

As I said before, the electricity repayment was said by a member belonging to the electricity board in a conference by the ministry of power in dec 2010. I don't believe the situation could have been completely changed in a couple of months max.

Anyways getting back on topic milk price hike is gonna hit her badly in the next elections( I hope). Can't believe that the opposition is sitting so quitely now

The news item blames lack of support from the central government.

I suggest that if you find the comment on UP, Bihar as a problem please ignore it.

    I completely support the hike.

Prices do need to be hiked at some point or the other. Better do it now, and let it remain static for the next few years - better from her perspective to do it long before elections.

Price hikes are a realistic fact of life. With all the economic growth, there is a massive increase in purchasing power. There is immense demand for resources - prices of everything are being driven up. And fares like 42 paisa per kilometer are a joke anyway!!! If you give too many freebies and subsidies, everything will collapse on itself someday. The realistic option is to increase rates within reasonable limits, when necessary.

I say it again, it was done by a govt employee under the eyes of Ministry of Power. Why don't you take this issue up with them ? Afraid it might be true ?
