China's aggressive military stance and incursion to claim territory has militarised the region and it is becoming a threat to peace.

Japan re-arming, so to say, is but a natural reaction, but it will also soothe and yet alarm the Nations that had been under Japanese occupation in WWII. However, since Japan is closely allied to the US, the apprehensions will be mellowed.

It is also unfortunate that China's unnecessary aggressive actions in the area is acting as a catalyst for Japan jettisoning its pacifist Constitution.

China must have the good sense to realise that her pursuit for hegemonic acquisitions is most unfounded and dangerous.

One would hope so, Ray, but the Chinese are not the most reasonable of people nor an especially sensible people. Have you seen the way they drive?

Believe me, Chinese drivers are hardly paragons of good sense.

Japan change the status quo by purchasing the disputed island few years back. Before that Sino Japan relationship was stable

Yes. I stayed in the People's Republic of China, a developing country, for 5 months and I saw how the Chinese drive. I was in Guangzhou, a very densely populated city, and environs and I saw how they drove there. I lived in two cities in Taiwan, Taipei and Kaohsiung, both very densely populated cities, for 5.5 years and again saw how the Chinese/Taiwanese drove. I know what I'm saying.

Those islands were under the occupation of a Japanese citizen. If it was a Chinese citizen administering those islands what do you think China would have done? Yes, do exactly what Japan did.

The islands were private owned by Japanese (The lease of the islands in 1896 and subsequent purchase in 1930 by the Koga family) or so I learn.

Therefore, would Japan not be the legitimate first choice?
