He is the economic muscle behind BJP in Karnataka and YSR/Jagan in AP. Now that YSR is dead and Jagan created his own party, time is ripe to go after him. All these mining barons are thriving due to total political backing be it Congress or BJP. The quicker these folks are dispatched to jail the better. But again, there will be some one else to take his place and the cycle continues. That is why it was important to have strong Lokpal/Lokayuktas to probe such dirty politicians.

DD, this is not a case of corruption per se. Use of politics has come later on. First is the case of illegal mining, then using politics to make sure you are not touched.
Its not the normal ghoos thing. National wealth was looted, environment damaged. They should slap all kinds of sections on them to make sure they live the rest of their lives on stone slabs in jail and not Gold Thrones!!

You are right but if it were not for politicians it would have never happened. If the politicians responsible for allowing it despite knowing about it are probed by Lokayukta like agencies everything will unravel and the illegal miner would have been in jail long ago. All our problem originates with our corrupt nepotistic culture and the politicians who arise from it.

As they say, politics is the last refuge of the scoundrels. It has been the case here as well. First these Reddys started their mining, started going illegal and then joined politics to make sure they remain untouched. Since i am into business in the industrial hardware sector, i get info on whats happening on the ground. What these Reddys have done and continue to do so. Bellary is their fiefdom.

The stars are not favouring those who are Reddys.

Jagannath Reddy is also up for the high jump for cocking the snook at the Congress!

While the BJP is expected to make the usual notice about congress using the CBI for political purposes,it cannot but help receive this unexpected bonanza, whether the center intended t to be so,with huge sigh of relief. The BJP an deflect any pressure from the Reddy camp for slots in the state cabinet,by citing the arrest and the pending case. The reddy's have been cut to size and they are unlikely to have the same clout in the party hat they had before. The investigation into their mining affairs will probably also affect their financial clout.

The only option left for the Reddy brothers and their supporters, which is now being increasingly talked about, is to float a new party. This is not as easy as founding a party and bank rolling it.The Reddy's are ethnic Telugu speakers and as Karnataka's political landscape suggests in an alien turf where by themselves, without the patronage of all Karnataka based party, they will have virtually no political weight to sustain their mining empire.

If floating an new party is unrealistic then they may opt to Congress or the JDS,both of whom have vowed not to touch the reddy sibling with a bare pole......Interesting times.
