JAMMU: Army Monday rescued 1400 of its personnel and their families caught in flood waters in its headquarters at Badamibagh cantonment in Srinagar. The cantonment along with areas of Shivpora and Indranagar in Srinagar were submerged as the water level rose as high as 18 feet due to breach in the Jehlum River. "As many as 1400 Army personnel and families evacuated from within the Badamibagh cantonment comprised 120 children staying in cantonment camp, 900 Army personnel and 380 families residing in flood- affected areas", PRO Defence, Jammu, Lt Col Manish Mehta said. He said the flood relief columns of Army are working tirelessly, risking their lives to help those trapped. A total of 80 villages in the Valley have been provided assistance, food packets and medicines, he said. With thousands of people trapped on the second floor, third floor or on the roof tops, Army plans to continue the rescue operations even at night, the spokesman said.

Jammu and Kashmir Floods: Army Will Not Rest Till Every Person is Rescued, Says its Chief

NEW DELHI: Army and air force troops worked through Sunday night to rescue thousands of people stranded across Kashmir, where nearly 150 people have been killed in landslides and the worst floods in six decades. In Srinagar, hundreds of residents remain trapped on roof-tops after the heavily-swollen Jhelum river flooding large parts of the city. "The Indian Army will not move back to the barracks till the last man is brought to safety," said General Dalbir Singh, Chief of the Army Staff. There has been no fresh rainfall on Monday, but with virtually all phone lines down in the main city of Srinagar and roads cut off, the exact scale of the disaster is still unclear. Six days of incessant rains have submerged hundreds of villages. About 22 air force helicopters and four aircraft have been deployed to evacuate stranded people and to deliver relief. About 120 army units and eight teams of police reservists, equipped with boats and life jackets, were in action. "With some 750 rescue personnel in operations there, our teams have saved about 5,005 people so far," Sandeep Rai Rathore, inspector general of the National Disaster Response Force, told AFP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi toured the region Sunday and met top relief officials, describing the situation as "a national-level disaster".

Meanwhile a group of JAKLI troopers were pelted with stones in Padshahi Bagh as they tried to dig a channel in Doodhganga canal which would have prevented water from entering the already swollen Jehlum river.

Nature's Jihad unleashed in Kashmir. The Hoshiyar Hurriyat leaders must have taken shelter in Abdul Basit's house and partying tirelessly. May god grant wisdom to kashmiris.

It is a matter of pride that Indian Govt and IA is standing by the side of Kashmiris in this natural calamity.

I am just wondering, if this is the scale of damage in Kashmir, what wud be the situation in POK and PAK! It must be a clean sweep...

    All underwater.

I experienced the floods in Kashmir in the 1950s and we were living next to the Dal lake.

    We are evacuated to Durugmul.

    It is scary.

Where is the Hurriyat and its terrorists who 'care' so much for Kashmir?

Where is the old goat Gilani or that odd fish looking at London and Talking to Tokyo, Mohammad Umar Farooq?

If these guys are from that area, then it's good. I'm happy that they're letting everyone know that they don't need any help, good ! less Chu's to worry about for the Forces deployed in rescue ops. The Forces can concentrate on areas where there's people need to be rescued/helped immediately. In the meantime these Baki/IS loving goatfuker faggots can drown/go fuk themselves & happily meet their 72 virgin goats(or Camels, whichever they prefer) Alhumdullah !!!!! :truestory: :dharma:
