While on one hand Home Minister Rajnath Singh claimed that family values have acted as deterrents for the Islamic State (ISIS) in India, the Karnataka Police, on the other hand, has 40 youths from the state under their scanner for showing lineage to the terror outfit.

The police keep a tab on the youth, who hail from communally-sensitive districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Hubbali-Dharwad, Belgavi and Kalburgi. They are monitoring the youth especially on social media. However, cops claim to have 'de-radicalised' and 'reformed' another 20 youths in six months with intervention.

According to the Karnataka Police, central intelligence agencies had indicated that youths from south India were more vulnerable to 'radicalisation' by the ISIS.

The theory gained more significance following the arrest of techie Mehdi Masroor Biswas, who tweeted extensively on behalf of the terror organisation from Bengaluru. Since his arrest, the police had, through a special cell, enhanced surveillance of social media accounts of other suspected ISIS sympathisers.

"We have been following the intervention route. We are not being aggressive by directly filing cases without conducting an inquiry. If we find going to an extreme end, we first approach their parents and inform them and later counsel the youths. This approach has worked for us. We have been successful in changing the minds of over 20 youths, who wanted to identify themselves with the Islamic State," a source in the police said.

The youths who are under the police scanner are in the age group 16-22. "We are monitoring social media accounts, messages, posts, Internet usage patterns and the kind of websites they are surfing. We want to know if they are in touch with any of the Indian youths, who have already joined the ISIS or they are interacting with the terror outfit's propagandists in West Asia," a senior police officer said.

The police have also collaborated with leading Islamic scholars and madrasas across the state to curb the spread of any ISIS propaganda at work places.

"It is clear that Indian Muslims do not approve of the ISIS philosophy and their inhuman ways. Only a few get swayed towards the terror outfit by reading on the Internet and watching the outfit's videos. They are also aware that they can reach ISIS territory from India. Our aim is to educate youths to stay away from this line of thinking," the source added.

The police have also employed linguistic experts, including those in Arabic and Urdu, as many posts of the 40 youth are in these two languages.

"We want to understand their psyche and take action. Recently, the father of a youth in Dakshina Kannada called the police and requested them to counsel his ISIS sympathiser son. We agreed and were successful in our attempt," a police officer from Dakshina Kannada district said.

God's own country has extended up to south-west Karnataka. Congress should celebrate another Tipu Jayanti. The ISIS recruiting pattern has exposed utter idiocy of age old commie argument of Islamic "radicalization" being an effect of lack of education and poverty.

Why ? can a wanna be-terrorist be de-radicalized ? I think no ! they will damage the society from inside.

I am basically worried because, currently modi is the PM who actually belongs to RSS. Hence Muslim youth may think that to counter him IS is the solution.

Finally, congressis and so called intolerant bastards have been trying to defame BJP and calling them anti Muslim, fanatic organisation.
