27 years of hardwork, countless controversies and delay, huge cost overrun, and finally IAF cleared off tejas for use in force but with a remark which gave me a blow, "tejas is not a fourth generation aircraft", for years we were fighting pakistanis and chinese that though we are late but not loser, we will return with a bang, all myths blown away on the very histroic event of tejas induction. after 27 years of work and huge sum of money into the project the air force is having only 40 aircrafts and pledge to order just 83 mark 2 variant in future that too subject to timely completion of aircraft( mark 2 variant). so in total 123 aircrafts, compare this with the 270 Su-30 MKIs and 126 MMRCA. these are not our fighters but still inducted in numbers that too in a single go but our very own fighters are pseudo-accepted. why force is doing this with tejas? high cost, 190-20 crore a piece is bout 40 million $ plus that is more expensive then a su-30 mk version and bout 5 million more then j-10 chinese fighter. peoples comment on tejas psuedo-induction are welcome.....

The Mk1 does not fit requirements. The IAF is supposedly inducting them to fill gaps. The Mk2 is the real deal and will be ready for combat operations by 2020.

it is not rejected by IAF. IAF partially accepted it bcoz they want at least 4.5 generation aircraft and tejas is 4th generation aircraft. they ordered 40 aircraft for encouraging HAL and DRDO. However they will ordered more tejas only if he fulfill the air force requirement. but you don't worry it is similar to mirage 2000-5 and much superior than Chinese JF-17.
