Re: Is Shinzo Abe's 'new nationalism' a throwback to Japanese imperial

Japan needs manpower to fight wars with China. Can this policy deficient, inconsistent and stammering Indian State supplement for that? No way.
We'll see how it fares out when the same defense shield is applied by China in SouthEast Asian Sea.
Man power for industries. Not to fight wars. a militarized or Aggressive Japan will have to find more able bodied men for the Army. This will weaken their industrial productions or Industries. Eventhough they master Industrial automation, still lack of energetic people is a loss.

India can supplement this. We have to lure the Japanese investments from China. More of Japanese Industries should come up here. that way we both can complement eachother. We can get the Technology and assistance from the Japs to ramp up our industries.

Though OT, Singh comments have got my curiosity up and yet, my doubt does not warrant a thread.

Indeed Japan is not the economic giant it was. And may even be in an economic doldrums.

So, how is it that the cost of living is still high in Japan, have high wages and they seem to be splurging?
Japan is not splurging enough, neither is USA, hence the stimulus packages.

I am by no means very knowledgeable but from my shallow understanding:

Ever since the property bubble crash, Japan has been economically stagnant, couple this with Japan's inverted population pyramid and this is a recipe for disaster.

Basically there are more elderly retired people who have to be supported by lesser number of young working people. The Japanese Govt's expenditure on social security, healthcare etc. is more than double the size of the economy, forcing them to take ever more debt to finance these schemes.

Solutions are
1. Open up Immigration : Japanese are anti-immigration so that's not on the table.

2. Goad Japanese to work harder : Whip up China threats and Nationalism

3. Encourage Japanese to spend more : Stimulus Packages like the recent ones.

4. Increase Japanese young population : Long term measure, perhaps 2 & 3 can take care of it.

As of now and for atleast few more decades to come, there is no alternative of plenty of good hard young men, when fighting a war against the likes of China.
Japan doesn't have even half the required manpower and the present Indian State seems in no condition to be able to help.
It would take an iron willed leader with not so moronic people working under, for India to take such a step and openly antagonize China.
Because the day we do so, a lot of thresholds with China would break. I don't give a damn about breaking them but we ought to be ready for that.
As for the Industrial outsourcing, the slogging discipline that Japan needs is a bit hard to find in India. These days our guys need to step out for a smoke every hour. :p

On the discipline part, I knew of a auto Design supplier whose Designs were rejected as they were designed with tolerance, while the Japanese automaker asked for absolute values. They are hard to work with.

It is Air defence IDENTIFICATION zone not air space!

By the way we don't claim the whole south china sea, we claim the island and the water around. That is a big difference!
