Exercise Iron Fist 2013

The day night n dusk live fire power n operational capabilities demonstrated by the IAF at the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan saw the use of more than 200 aircrafts targeting designated targets with bombs rockets n missiles.

Iron Fist displayed almost all of the applications of each and every aircraft including the C-130J and IL-76. I appreciate the display of the landing and then take-off of the C-130J on an uneven surface. It was a perfect landing where the aircraft was seen bouncing just a bit due to uneven surface. Was watching it with fingers crossed. .

I also watched it till 6:00pm , well for me it was exciting and thrilling, I saw Tejas dropping a bomb can't say if it was Laser guided or not but it was a bulls-eye, then it fired an R-73 on flare, I saw MKI dropping 26 bombs as carpet bombing and it was really exciting. LCH maneuvered really fine.

Till I saw, only for once an MKI decided to not to drop a bomb due to some problems but it dropped on the next round, while LCA's bomb was right on the target as well as MKIs. but MKIs were doing carpet bombings.

Oh yeah! The carpet bombs were just like KABOOM. I switched it off when the Sarang came up because I had to leave. The Garuda operation was also nice displaying the capacity of Mi-17V5 that carried the entire light utility vehicle.
