You know this could all be so easy for them with multiple countries ready to help them openly, if they weren't obsessed with the normally Arab intention of trying to "wipe out Israel off the map" all the time? Because of the embargo caused by their government's actions and words, the common Iranian people suffer most such as the dangerous airline safety record of Iran's vintage civilian fleet.

They have tremendous potential in the field of science as the ancient Persians were pretty apt in science. The only reason for their isolation from technologies of the world is their own government.

Iran set to launch imaging satellite

TEHRAN (BNS): Iran will launch a satellite with imaging capabilities by the end of this year, Iranian Telecommunications Minister Reza Taqipour has said.

"We are preparing the Rassad 1 (Observation) satellite for launch" by the end of 2010, IRIB quoted Taqipour as saying on Sunday.

According to a Press TV report, Iran needed to carry out further experiments on the second domestically-made satellite for the exact blast off time before March 2011.

Taqipour was also quoted saying that further additional information will be made public after pre-launch tests have been carried out and all systems including "the launch base, the carrier, ground navigation and control of the orbiter gear up for lift off."

Iran will use the Rassad 1 satellite to transmit images of the earth and for meteorological purposes, the report said.

In 2009, the country launched its first homegrown research satellite. Iranian scientists were on schedule to launch the country's first manned mission to space in 2017, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.

Iran to launch 'reconnaissance' satellite

Iran will launch a reconnaissance satellite dubbed the "Fajr" in the next few months, Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi said in a report Saturday by the official IRNA news agency.

Vahidi said the Islamic republic would also put into space around the same time another satellite, the Rasad 1 (Observation), whose launch was originally scheduled for August 2010.

Iran is "building different satellites and by end of the (Iranian) year (March 2011), the Fajr and Rasad satellites will be launched into space," the minister was quoted as saying.

The news agency reported that Fajr (Dawn) was a "reconnaissance satellite" that would operate on solar energy.

"These satellites are different from the previous models. They have better fuel systems and can stay in space for a longer time," Vahidi said.

Vahidi said he expected Rasad 1 to be delivered to the communication ministry and launched during the 32nd anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution which falls on February 11, 2011.

In February 2009, Iran launched its first home-built satellite, the Omid (Hope).

Making missiles is no big deal North korea also does it. .But a space programme is totally different thing
First a country makes satellites, then launches satellites then DREAMS of manned space programme.

The technological capability of Iran is limited.
when sanctions will be imposed then refined petroluem will be one of the items because Iranian refineries are outdated. The technology required for manned space mission is far more complex than a modern refinery.

Ahmedinijad and the current regime are misleading their people
How do you think that the mulla regime has managed to survive this long? :p

Iran has money. Better per capita Income. Good scientific expertise in many fields including atomic and BM. I heard they were trying to make stealth fighter as well. One should trust what others say, it creates pressure on claimer and encouragement to competitor to do more.

You must realize that though Iranians are much smarter than Arabs and capable in general, their theocratic lunacy doesn't allow free thinking, free speech and hence stops innovation. Remember that no matter how conservative a government is, one has to have a certain degree of government level freedom to conceive new ideas and boost innovation. Making a stealth fighter isn't a piece of cake. China just managed to make it and its capabilities are not yet known apart from its good design for LO. The same thing applies for AMCA when it comes out.

We 2 are the fastest growing powers on this planet right now and we are finding it so difficult despite a dozen countries ready to assist. You think fancy words of A'jad can make them a stealth fighter? I respect Iran's resolve to become independent but they have a compulsive habit of shooting themselves in the foot almost everytime and with every diplomatic bigwig around. USA, UK, France, Russia and now latest being China. That makes all the P-5. At this rate, who will help them with sensitive tech? Iranians shouted foul on Chinese for one geographical mistake and called Russians as West' slaves. You think Putin would take that lightly and brush off? :p

Until that stupid clerical regime is there ruling them, the true potential of Iranians (which the world saw during the developed Shah era) will be caged. Simple as that. And I said stupid clerical because there is no difference between the Iranian regime and people of Pakistan: both are OBSESSED with religion into EVERY damn thing.

If a woman with tanlines can cause earthquakes then stealth fighters are definitely possible..LOLZ!

If you check with technical book publishers there are many books written by Iranian professors settled in USA working in US universities on subjects like digital control system, embedded systems and fuzzy logic controllers. It reflects their abilities ,as all the above topics find their way in the design of aerospace systems!!!!

Standing up and yelling in the international stage does not mean you have a back bone, it just mean your insane! India is far more advanced technologically than Iran and has shown far more back bone than Iran. Starting the non-aligned movement and heading the world in WTO etc., showed more courage and brains than to just yell and be confrontational in the world stage.

The way they used diplomacy after the US presidents visit against us was just terrible! It was basically an big angry spat and we did not respond in kind! Being confrontational is not required for us, what we need is to be friends with the west and east and milk their technologies and know hows to develop our country and get people out of poverty. It would be a crime against our own people to be confrontational like Robert Muhabay or Saddam Hussain and make the people suffer in poverty and inflation, our goal is to get the hell out of this trap of poverty and behaving like Iran will get us now where and probably doom us.

Moreover most of Iranians Scientific pool studied in India before they went back and built collages at home, in the 60s till 80s Bangalore was full of Iranian students and we made a positive contribution to them.

I am not impressed by that satellite either, it looks like the Sputnik only far less complicated. Their manned program too is to basically remove the warhead on an altered missile and replace it with a human. Putting a man in low earth orbit means nothing these days, even Pakistan or North Korean, Israel could do that. This is only an political gimmick for the local crowd.

Iran plans to send a live monkey into space next month, the latest advance in a missile and space program which has alarmed Israel and its western allies that fear the Islamic Republic is seeking nuclear weapons.

The head of Iran's Space Agency on Monday said five monkeys were undergoing tests before one is selected for the flight on board a Kavoshgar-5 rocket, according to the official IRNA news agency.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said last August that Iran planned to send a man into space by 2017.

Western countries are concerned the long-range ballistic technology used to propel Iranian satellites into orbit could be used to launch atomic warheads.

Tehran denies such suggestions and says its nuclear work is purely peaceful.

Last week, Iran launched its second domestically built satellite into orbit, the Rasad 1 (Observation), which it said was for transmitting images and weather forecasts.

Iran plans to send monkey into space

Tehran conducts missile tests as Iranian space agency announces proposed mission to launch monkey into orbit.

Last Modified: 28 Jun 2011 04:41

Iran has unveiled the next stage of its space programme, saying it is going to send a monkey into space next month.

Five monkeys were undergoing tests before one was to be selected for the flight on board a Kavoshgar-5 rocket, the head of Iran's space agency was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency on Monday.

The announcement comes after Iranian state television showed footage of a missile training exercise conducted by the country's Revolutionary Guards.

A spokesman said the war games tested long, medium and short-range missile capability on ground and sea targets.

Iran says it has a wide range of missiles, some capable of striking Israel and US bases in the region.

'Unsung heroes'

Animals have a long history of space travel.

In 1948, NASA began putting monkeys aboard its rockets. Most of them died and are still considered the unsung heroes of the space race.

Farouk Baz, a director of space research at Boston University, told Al Jazeera that Iran's announcement was intended to showcase Iran's homegrown space industry.

"This is now all homemade. However, many of the Iranians have been studying abroad, the same way the Indians and the Chinese did. They had people working in the laboratories in the US and all over Europe.

"Most of these people get good degrees, work very hard and as soon as they are ready they go home, and they are treated like heroes and given funds to further their research."

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, said last August that Iran planned to send a man into space by 2017.

Last week, Iran launched its second domestically built satellite into orbit, the Rasad 1 (Observation), which it said was for transmitting images and weather forecasts.

Animal Astronaut: Iran to Launch a Monkey Into Space Next Month

By: Clara Kim

Following to suit of a mouse, a turtle and some worms, an Iranian monkey is to be sent to space next month.

According to the head of Iran's Space Agency, there are five monkeys in training, but only one will have the honor of boarding the Kavoshgar-5 (Explorer-5) rocket especially designed for the occasion. Iran has been picking up speed in its race to send a real astronaut to space by 2017 as President Ahmadinejad said last August.

This Iranian monkey won't be the first to fly to the stars, however. Space programs around the world including NASA have launched countless animals to space. Albert II, a Rhesus Monkey in the 1949 U.S. V2 mission was history's first space monkey. One of the smartest space animals was Ham the Chimp in 1961 Mercury project; trained with banana and electric shock, it learned to pull levers and led the project to success. A few months later in May 1961, NASA flew its first astronaut, Alan Shepard. Besides chimps and monkeys, dogs, spiders, silkworms, frogs are among other species that have made their way to the stars.

Recent advancement in Iran's space program has concerned the U.S., Israel and other allies because the same technology could be applied in long-range missile developments. In fact, Iran announced on Monday after the war games that it has long-range missiles capable of striking U.S. and Israeli bases in the area.

Iran space monkey likely to spark nuclear fears from the West

Tuesday, 28 June 2011

AL ARABIYA WITH AGENCIES

Iran says it plans to send a monkey into space next month as part of its space program, potentially sparking fears from Western countries about the progress of Iran's missile arsenal.

Five monkeys are undergoing tests, and one will be selected for the flight on board a Kavoshgar-5 rocket, state-run news agency IRNA reported on Monday, quoting the head of Iran's Space Agency.

But the experiment is likely to alarm Israel and its Western allies, who are concerned that Iran is pressing on with its plans for nuclear arms.

The fear is that Iran's long-range ballistic technology used in Iran's space program to propel satellites into orbit could also be used to launch atomic warheads.

Tehran has denied such suggestions, saying its nuclear work is purely peaceful and adding that it seeks only energy-producing reactors, IRNA reported.

Last year, Iran announced it had launched a rocket carrying a mouse, turtle and worms into space.

In August 2010 the country's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said that Iran planned to send a man into space by 2017.

Last week, Iran launched its second domestically built satellite into orbit, the Rasad 1, which it said was designed for transmitting images and for weather forecasting, according to Reuters reports.
