Iran and India Reach Agreement on Arrear Payments

TEHRAN July 31 (Shana): Managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Ahmad Qalebani says the problem of India payments for imported oil from Iran has been solved.

Talking to Shana, Qalebani noted that part of the arrear payments would be settled this week.

'Following bilateral negotiations, the two sides agreed to settle the outstanding bills as soon as possible', NIOC's managing director said.

According to the official part of the arrears would be paid in next few days and the remaining part would be paid by the Indian customers gradually.

Mohsen Qamsari, NIOC's director for international affairs also said that the two sides had reached an agreement on the arrear payments adding related bank accounts have been announced to Indian side and the amount deposited in our accounts would be revealed by reopening the international banks on Monday.

He added Iran's oil exports to India are going on as usual. Iran exports 400 thousand barrels of oil to India each day.
