Re: IRAN - a new Enemy ? Iran seizes Indian ship carrying oil from Ira
Irrespective of either (oil or AFG) the more serious point is that by taking chabahar China shuts us out of our CAR access route. Thereby China achieves complete trade connectivity with the rest of the world and ensures strategic dominance as their navy will be overlooking our trade with the gulf.
Umm... We never needed Iran for oil. But our bets on Afghanistan hinge on Iran virtually. No point in sitting on a 100 billion dollar iron ore field if we can't ship it out. Unless our strategy is to build a consumption economy in Afghanistan and they steel output is to rebuild their country.Good point. China has only nominally reduced its Iran imports, whereas we have reduced our Iran imports quite significantly.
However, Iraq Oil is virtually the same as Iran Oil. This is some kind of signalling. Chidu as it is said that we want to increase our Iran imports, perhaps Iran is a bit more impatient and desperate.
Globally, Iran is running out of allies, and if they want to antagonize India its their wish.
We have also shifted focus away from Middle East, now we are Nigerian Oil's largest customer, and also buying significant quantities from Latin America.
