in haryana its their jaat (caste), samaj (society),family honour and how a woman is a sacrificial goat for them, so they be from whatever caste, it never really made a difference to them. its a rarity to come across intercaste marriage from that state, those that happen are amongst people who have left the state for long.

Sir, the most saddest thing is the most well educated do it and are not ready to give up.

i am not sure how true, but they do suggest bahishkaar of the family by the society at large if they go against the set norms, and so they wont look "outside", and the limit of "outside" can be defined in varied ways.

There needs to be some special draconian law against caste Panchayats and their self appointed custodians.

India and Bharat are like two separate entities. Before criticizing the village Panchayats, please do some research on how they sustain the sociocultural system at rural levels where majority of poor live. Personal Freedom is directly derived from Economic Freedom and Social Security, and in absence of these two khaps and panchayats are necessary evils for the survival of our people.

People must be educated, and the change can only be introduced slowly.

Please enlighten me how Khap Panchayats and their diktats are "necessary evils".

How slowly can one expect change? Another 60 yrs? Its a rotten system, rotten from the core.

^^^I cant people still justify this, that too as 'necessary evil', Why dont we 'necessary evil' the people who call for it.
I want to gas everyone who calls for 'necessary evil' after all they dont deserve to live in the 21st century, there it is mine and the country's necessary evil, that the such pricks dont live. I wonder if they have the guts to say that to face of people who endured this 'necessary evil'.

There is a social order in India, it is called CRPC.

Khaps and Panchayats do much more than just issuing dictates over something which ruffles feathers of the enlightened-ones, they are an important part of the village life. These institutions provide security and support system to people where people don't have access to legal system, hospitals, schools and internet.

That's why I said that these institutions are necessary evils, if they really are so "EVIL". Society cannot be forced to change in a day, but yes we have witnessed several changes during past 60 years.

CRPC doesn't provide money to sick dying people in villages, or those in need. CRPC doesn't build schools so that kids in rural areas can have access to education. CRPC doesn't dig wells to provide water to locals. CRPC doesn't ensure that police does it's solemn duty of maintaining law-and-order. CRPC doesn't resolve local disputes.

No, they are the ones who are preventing change. They are the ones who want the same rotten system to continue. They are the ones who are the biggest hurdle to modernity., liberal values, even development. They stunt development at the grassroot level.

If they provide the stuff mentioned then what is the need for Govts, Police, courts???Casteist Goons who appoint themselves as gaurdians of their society are the reason for the continued backwardness and narrow mindedness.

So what are you advocating? Should goons take up the job of courts and police?

Its very easy to talk about "Modernity", "Liberal Values" and "Development" from the place and position where we currently are.

Well the rest of India does OK to live without Khap Panchyat. Saddam gave water connection and stability, but he also killed. That latter isnt justified because of the former. You are sick, go to the hospital, Local disputes, Go to the court, Dont have access to education, Go to the Ministry of Education, Dont have water, Go to the Water authority, Need Law and Order, Go to the Police. Un-elected rural morons who is head deep in casteism isnt actually the right people to give out judgements, what they are good for , is to get their face punched in quite deeply.

The rest of India lives quite ok with all that is around in India, only this castist moron's from North India needs to be taught a lesson, on civilized living.

Necessary evil should pay a kind visit to people who actually support and promote the system. Its very easy to say that they are all very necessary sitting where they are sitting, far from all of that disgusting life.
