For an infantry man its no longer than 200ms, In counter insurgency its even lesser in practice ..

If a target of opportunity comes at 600ms, Than simply call for sharpshooter within the squad ..
How many machine guns are available in each squad?
Sharpshooter with which caliber? And can any one shoot at 600m with iron sights?
I haven't seen .50 cal with IA in any pics?

Its seems improved variant is now being used in mass at CT areas, But still their are doubts as some units simply painted older 1B1 with black paint ..
Is that hill in the background belong to us?

MK1C has metal butt profile, It was MK1A who had polymer one though in practice it is also changed to metal one.

Assam rifles MK1A share same buttstock as regular 1B1 folded one, I think in practice MK1C will also share same buttstock as 1B1`s have ..

What you suggested can be true, But my suspicion is due to its hand-guard design which looks like a rectangle..

=======

Usually its one LMG, one grenadier and marksman given as per need, 1B1 and SVD are used by Marksmen ..

One cannot shoot a human size target at +500m with iron sights at field conditions ..

Kunal, that is regular insas, foldable butt version. The metal pipe construction of the butt is quite visible. The Mk1c has a flat polymer butt profile.

Both US and UK are trying to make a better 5.56 round. We should wait and see if they succeed before taking a call on switching calibres.
US is also researching plastic ammos, caseless ammo as well as telescopic ammo (both cased and caseless).
Basically, everyone is experimenting now. We should wait and watch.

Wait another ten years for the research tonreach fruitition. Both US and UK has no pressing need to speed up the research project. For them, their rifle and bullets are fine.

MCIWS Update:

The Advanced Assault Rifle (AAR) , previously known as MCIWS, is going to be inducted into Indian Armed Forces within just 6-10 months if any further problem doesn't arise. All modifications, suggested and demanded by army, have been done. All trials have been conducted successfully. The new model has reduced the weight further, means AAR is lighter than early MCIWS. It can accept 5.56, 6.8 and 7.62 mm ammo, giving an edge. More than 250 models have been evaluated and more than 25000 rounds have been fired still now.

It cleared its user trails back in early 2016 & Yes it did not receive any orders as of now ..

What's the status of the JVPC? It has been in trails/development for over a decade now and is constantly displayed by DRDO but no orders?
