:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Kochi: A Kerala state owned boat ferrying about 100 passengers rammed into aircraft carrier INS Viraat here, naval sources said today.
However, no one was injured and there was no damage to Viraat, which is here as part of its periodic and scheduled maintenance, the sources said.

The incident occurred yesterday as German cruise liner 'Celebrity Solistice', which had arrived here on Saturday with about 2800 tourists and 1250 crew, was about to embark on its journey for Port Klang, Malaysia.

The boat driver said he was unaware of the presence of the cruise liner, which also allegedly failed to sound a siren before starting its journey, Kerala State Water Transport Department sources said.

It is suspected the boat got caught in waves generated by propellers of the liner and rammed into the naval vessel.

The boat was on its way to Ernakulam jetty from Fort Kochi.

The KSWTD has ordered an enquiry.

INS Viraat will be in Kochi for a few months.

This seems to have been hyped. Looking at the size of the AC, the relative small size of the ferry and the fact that the boat was caught in the wake of the huge cruise liner and as a result swung on to the AC.

The point that goes a begging, what was the Ferry doing so close to the AC, that the wake of the Cruise Liner pushed it onto the AC.

It is hyped. There was no damage sustained by the Viraat and the boat was a dingy. It's like rolling a marble against a wall.

This is the boat by the way that collided with the Viraat. Plus the boat had its motor off at the time as it was docking.

Kochi Naval Base has not a real restricted area. You can actually book a boat trip around the Naval base at any time if you come to Gods own Country :D. But the problem is that there arent many big Navy ships here

Must have been scary for the passengers. No injuries I suppose.

Must have been a mighty small nick if a small boat survived a carrier.

there were fewer accidents when indian navy and ports had obsolete handling and steering exquipments. either automatic and latest gizmos are faulty or fishermen are given command of vessels and ports

We are talking about Viraat here. It isn't like she is combat capable with a delapidated wing of discontinued Harriers.

Isn't any battleship, ACC commissioned has its own territory it has to defend from any unidentified boat ?
