State run Global (गोबर) Times asks India to apologise or face consequenc over drone crashed in China

Chinese state-run media outlet Global Times has demanded an apology from India in an editorial. "The intrusion took place at the same location where a standoff broke off not too long ago between the Chinese and Indian militaries. In a time and at a location so sensitive, both sides should have avoided acting in ways that the other might perceive as provocative to prevent new frictions arising. But India clearly did not behave itself," it said.

From the tone of the editorial it's clear China is fuming at the Indian attempts to get back the drone. "Indian media reported Friday that India is asking China through diplomatic channels to return the drone. The statement by the Indian defense ministry barely mentioned the intrusion, with no hint of an apology. We believe that this is not the time for India to make such a request. India needs to first correct its attitude by admitting the intrusion was wrong. It needs to apologize to China and promise no such incident will ever happen again," the Global Times wrote.

Sources explained that in high altitude areas sometimes there is a "break in the communication link", which could be a reason to the UAV losing contact.

However, Global Times wrote that it was upto the Chinese to investigate and find the truth.
"India is not the side which gets to decide how that drone came to cross into Chinese territory. The Chinese side's investigation will determine how Beijing deals with the incident. If India wants to improve relations, it should cooperate with the investigation," it wrote.

It also issued an open warning to India: "If China is certain that the Indian military sent a drone into Chinese territory with hostile intentions and New Delhi keeps up its bad manners, the consequences will be far worse than losing a drone."

Its seems the drone have been shot by electronically(hacked or Jammed) Because if the Heron had lot communication signal, it would have automatically returned to base.

I'm surprised that it does not have auto/self destruct built in for these purposes.

China Warns Citizens Visiting India Not To Violate Laws
The Chinese Embassy in New Delhi in a notice issued yesterday did not give details of any violations, but warned its citizens to abide by laws in six areas.

Beijing/New Delhi: China has asked its citizens travelling to India not to breach local laws and avoid areas restricted to foreigners, warning that they can detained, fined or even sentenced for violating rules and regulations.

The Chinese Embassy in New Delhi in a notice issued yesterday did not give details of any violations, but warned its citizens to abide by laws in six areas.

These included not carrying prohibited items such as ivory and rhino horns, not overstaying visas, not working in India illegally and not breaching the law by entering areas barred to foreigners, Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post reported today.

"There have been consecutive cases of Chinese citizens being detained, fined or investigated, charged or even sentenced due to alleged law breaking in India," the statement said.

Anyone violating the laws could be fined or jailed, it added.

"The embassy can protect the safety of Chinese citizens and the rightful claims of Chinese enterprises and personnel in India...but [we] cannot tolerate any illegal behaviour," it said.

Since the Doklam standoff with India, China had issued several advisories to its tourists including the one reminding Chinese travellers to pay close attention to the local security situation, improve self-protection awareness and strengthen security.

India needs to stay away from the business of containing China. The same powers who used Pakistani a.k.a. terroristan against India ...now ...want to use India against China.
No one can contain China or India as this mindset of containment of giant nations will change because they are becoming militarily very very powerful and any major conflict instigated between them by "containment" mafia can backfire badly and collapse the global economy and deaths of millions of human beings.
"containment" forces and their cronies will go down along with giant nations and they would hate to go down...so this is all b*shit and impractical noise making.
This is time for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect .Other alternative is "mutually assured destruction"
Harmony between major nations is the only way for a peaceful and prosperous world.
Therefore, India must keep building and acquiring high tech weapons to "contain" the "containment mafia"

Nothing drastic is going to happen.

This is the first visit by modi after XI has been crowned for life, hence the courtesies.

And probably what modi wants is some quiet on Chinese border for next one year before elections.

Its a two way street. Communist China uses its resources to contain India (Pakis, NE rebels, String of Pearls etc). India needs to do what it can to handle communist China. For harmony, trust is a must. Unfortunately none of communist China's actions (above mentioned, actions at border and NSG, Hafiz etc) contribute to any trust.
So, it might not be the "containment" forces that are pitting India against communist China. It is the later's actions against India unfortunately.

US itself is sending it's envoy to China. Let's see what transpires there. Will US stand by its decision to place duties on imports from China? Will U.S. sustain itself by discouraging imports from China? There will be price rise on cheap goods imported from China. Will U.S. public that is used to cheaper Chinese goods appreciate price rise? Time will answer a lot of questions.

In the meanwhile India should do what is in best interests of India. We should have clear objectives of what we wish to achieve. China cannot afford war and enmity with India. During this summit we should ask for:-

1. More exports to China thus reducing trade deficit
2. isolation of Pakistan by stopping arms supply by China to Pakistan,
3. Entry in NSG
4. China not to interfere in India's internal affairs including support to separatists in NE.
5. Stop interfering in Arunachal Pradesh
6. Stop dam construction on Rivers flowing into India from China.
7. Help India in getting POK back.
8. As a goodwill gesture, return Askai Chin back to India.

As a return, India will be neutral to China in their trade war with U.S. and EU.

Na Kahu se Dosti, Na Kahu se Bair. (neither friendship nor enmity with anyone).

As per ANI Tweet and I Quote "#WATCH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Wuhan, #China. The PM was received by Kong Xuanyou, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of foreign affairs of China, Luo Zhaohui (Ambassador), Tong Daochi (Vice-Governor of Hubei) and many others."

Analogously when Xi arrives in India I suggest sending Asaram bapu to receive him or perhaps Renuka. (bad analogy but I'll stick to it)

I think Modiji shouldn't have take the bait, what say @ezsasa ?
The broad is silent because everyone here is fully aware of the Chinese perfidy and know very well that there will be no new understanding and no changes in the geo-political status quo. All this is a media blitz organised by the newly self appointed emperor ELEVEN to fool the world into believing that he is a moderate and development oriented. When push comes to shove the chinese media will sing paeans about how emperor ELEVEN went out of his way to resolve issues but the Indians and Americans didn't budge.

One misplaced r changes a lot of meaning, ha ha... “broad”

I think this is a good call by modi and XI to do informal meetings before SCO. After all both XI and modi are expected to lead their respective countries for next 5-6 years. No harm in being on the same page. In those 5 years we will cross 4 trillion $ economy, crucial years.

I also believe that these meetings were designed to go under the international radar, this time it is NK-SK meeting. I had commented sometime back that modi uses international events to mask some other events. Demonetisation being one, brexit for first operation all out in Kashmir . There are a few more like this.

There are lot of naysayers here. If no India-China partnership..then what is the other alternate...to become pawn in the hands of western powers and make bigger enmity with China ?

Can you really depend on West in case of War with China ? You forgot how West did not help a bit in 1962 when India-China war happened...in spite of Nehru daydreaming about that help.

Some power only has to instigate enmity between these two giant neighbors and they are set to sell hundreds of billions worth of weapons bankrupting these two developing nations.

Who in right sense of mind would like 1.3 billion Chinese fighting with 1.25 billion Indians ?

It would be really foolish either for us or the Chinese to take a confrontational stance. I however believe that China has to take a bigger role in persuading us about its intentions. Hope this summit paves the way for friendly ties between the two.
I'm going to need pretty strong actions from the Chinese side to before I believe them though.

SoftBank, Alibaba to invest $445 mln in India's Paytm E

Alibaba.Com Singapore E-Commerce Pvt. Ltd, which currently owns 36.3 percent of the Indian e-retailer, will remain the single-largest shareholder of Paytm E-Commerce but with a relatively smaller stake of just over 30 percent after its latest investment is completed in four tranches.

Paytm E-Commerce competes with Amazon.com Inc's Indian unit and home-grown Flipkart. A group company of Paytm's parent One97 Communications Ltd runs India's biggest digital wallet services and also has a stake in a payments bank.

Stop work in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, says India after being urged to back 'One China'

NEW DELHI: China has urged India to support the “One-China policy”, something that India has not done in official documents since 2010, a development that has come following the improvement in bilateral ties. The one-China policy acknowledges only the People’s Republic of China and does not recognise the existence of Taiwan or Republic of China.

India has in turn communicated that it wants China to refrain from projects in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that violate India’s sovereignty, according to people aware of the matter. They said China has not made any move so far to address India’s concerns over the CPEC, which remains the key reason for India to oppose China’s Belt and Road Initiative .

Ahead of the second meeting of PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 9, China has told India that a reiteration of one-China policy by India would significantly help enhance mutual trust between the two countries. The issue is understood to have figured in external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj’s discussion with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the BRICS meet in South Africa earlier this week. India continued with this practice even after Modi became PM in 2014. By then, China had drawn up a plan to build an economic corridor linking Kashgar in Xinxiang Province in northwestern China and a deep sea port at Gwadar in Balochistan in south-western Pakistan.

After reading the chinese version, no one would believe that China's rise is going to be peaceful. Its clear that PRC has hegemonic objectives in entire south asia. Its rise is a threat to the security, stability and peace of the region. Only India's rise can balance the power equation and provide security, stability and peace to the region.
agreed,no one believe that, just see the action in Somalia and south china sea.

Can the New China-India Thaw Last?
Despite India’s recent seeking of friendlier ties with Beijing, the future prospects for relations remain uncertain.
By Rajeswari Pillai Rajagopalan
October 19, 2018
A year after Doklam, India appears to be intent on seeking friendlier ties with Beijing. Whether this is sustainable for the long-term, however, is unclear. Even as this process has unfolded, India continues to worry about China’s activities in the neighborhood and continues to build up its ties with other partners, though cautiously.
Since April, there have been a series of meetings between the top Indian and Chinese leaders, Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping. After the “informal” summit in Wuhan in April, the two met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Qingdao in June and the BRICS leaders’ summit in Johannesburg in July.
At the Wuhan Summit, Modi and Xi agreed to the China-India Plus cooperation format to work in third countries such as Afghanistan. Thereafter, India’s Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale went on to develop an outline for a capacity-building project, which was announced on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Qingdao in June.
On October 15, India and China jointly began a training program for Afghan diplomats in New Delhi, a significant development. Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui is reported to have said that the two countries should collaborate in other neighboring countries such as Iran, Nepal, and Myanmar. The 10 Afghan officers, on finishing the training at the Foreign Service Institute in India, will go to China for the second leg as part of the joint training program.
Though Afghanistan sent its diplomats for training under the program, the Afghan leadership is reportedly disappointed with India. Kabul is apparently of the view that because of India joining hands with China, there has been a downgrading of India’s assistance to Afghanistan to “smaller” projects as a way of assuaging Pakistan’s concerns. Reports indicate that “India had, in fact, conceded [to] China’s request to jointly implement a limited ‘capacity building’ project to opt for a smaller project in Afghanistan, possibly to assuage its ally Pakistan’s misgivings.”
India’s efforts to assuage China are not limited to Afghanistan alone. The two sides are slated to sign a bilateral internal security cooperation pact on October 22 during the visit of Zhao Kezhi, China’s minister of public security to India. Intelligence exchange, sharing of best practices, exchange programs, and cooperation in disaster mitigation are some of the areas the two sides intend to cooperate on under this agreement.
Quoting officials, reports suggest that this security cooperation arrangement could possibly lead to an agreement to exchange prisoners in each other’s countries. There are apparently 10 Indian prisoners is Chinese prisons and “an equal number of Chinese in Indian prisons as well,” according to the Financial Express. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to come to India in December to co-chair a meeting that focuses on people-to-people ties, a decision that was taken by Modi and Xi in the wake of the Doklam crisis.
While New Delhi tries to address Beijing’s concerns, there are questions about how long all this will last, given that there seems to be no letup in the expansion of China’s military and diplomatic presence in India’s periphery. For instance, just as India and China started their joint training program for Afghan diplomats, China was busy deploying PLA Navy submarines in the Indian Ocean after a gap of more than a year. It has been reported that China had sent a Type 039A Yuan class SSK diesel submarine and submarine rescue vessel, which were sighted in the Indian Ocean earlier this month. This is the first such PLA Navy mission in the Indian Ocean since the Doklam crisis.
How India will respond remains to be seen. India’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba recently said that India was “working with all like-minded nations and we are in dialogue with China as well.”
Meanwhile, China is also continuing to demonstrate its interest in pushing into India’s sphere of influence in Bhutan. Even though Beijing has no formal diplomatic ties with Thimphu, it has been expanding its footprint in Bhutan for a while now. Reports suggest that China has increased the number of shipments into Bhutan in the past decade, everything from machinery to cement to electrical equipment to toys to the point where China is now “the third largest source of foreign products” to Bhutan.
As India seeks better ties with China, it is also continuing to build up its partnerships in the region. India-Japan maritime cooperation saw a boost with the re-starting of the exercise, JIMEX that concluded earlier this week. India also held the inaugural 2+2 Dialogue with the United States last month and signed the Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA). India-Australia ties are also seeing some revival with a number of security dialogues and military exercises between the two sides.
On the other hand, in a demonstration of “strategic autonomy” from the United States, India has signed an agreement to purchase the S-400s anti-aircraft missiles from Russia and also plans to buy more oil from Iran from November, despite the threat of U.S. sanctions. Whether India can continue this high stakes strategic tightrope-walking remains to be seen.

India to participate in China's first international import expo
Twelve countries - Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Vietnam and the UK will be the "Guest of Honour" at the mega business event.
India will participate in China's first international import expo in Shanghai as part of its efforts to reduce the over USD 51 billion trade deficit with the neighbouring nation, Indian officials said here on Sunday.
The six-day China International Import Expo(CIIE) will be inaugurated on Monday by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Leaders of 18 countries, including Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will take part in the event, which is aimed at showcasing China's import potential.
An Indian delegation led by Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan has arrived in Shanghai to take part in the event, officials said.
"India has built a pavilion at the expo highlighting its focus areas of agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, information technology and tourism," Prashant Lokhande, Counsellor Economic and Commerce of the Indian Embassy said.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) along with relevant government agencies has built India pavilion at the expo, which is billed as the biggest event organised by China, the world's largest exporter to showcase opportunities.
Chinese official media says the the scope of imports could be over a USD trillion dollars.
The expo is being held amid China's trade war with the US, which slapped additional tariffs on Chinese goods worth about USD 250 billion, demanding Beijing to bring down the trade deficit amounting to USD 375 billion. China had retaliated with counter tariffs.
India too has been pressuring China to take measures to bring down over USD 51 billion annual trade deficit, which was one of the main focus areas in the informal meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at Wuhan in April this year.
Since then officials of the two countries held several rounds of talks for India to export its agricultural products like sugar and rice as well as its pharmaceuticals and IT in which the country has upper hand in the global exports.
The Consul General of India's Consulate in Shanghai, Anil Kumar Rai, said the expo will enable India to showcase products in the areas in which it is strong.
Though the expo, which would be held till Novemebr 10, has evoked tremendous interest in global industry, diplomatic sources said China is yet to liberalise its import market.
It is the world's first import-themed national-level expo that will feature enterprise and business exhibitions, country pavilions for trade and investment, the state-run China Daily reported.
About 82 countries and three international organisations will set up 71 booths at the country pavilions, covering an area of about 30,000 square metres.
Twelve countries - Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Vietnam and the UK will be the "Guest of Honour" at the mega business event.
More than 3,000 companies from over 130 countries have confirmed participation in the enterprise and business exhibitions at the expo, with a total booth area of 270,000 square metres, the report said.
