FMBT designs ...by DRDO ,preliminary
Hope they make a better in the View attachment 17993 View attachment 17994 final
12 wheels, so the tank will be in the 50-ton class? Sweet.

Happy to say that they are trying to stick to an unmanned turret concept. But from the first pic, it looks like they are planning a 3-man crew. Long ago, they said they were trying to use more automation so that the tank could make-do with a 2-man crew. A two-man crew would have meant a lighter and better protected tank. Maybe they dropped the idea due to prohibitive costs and.or complexity of a 2-man tank. It could also be a user requirement to keep 3-man crew.......

Why is the engine to the rear and crew in front? 'cause of the driver? Hmmm........

Hopefully, the FMBT program has advanced a lot after this stage.

They should make an Arjun with 3 man crew autoloader using the existing MK2 turret design with modifications and with the gunner sight above the turret and ERA covering the whole of the turret without any hole in the armor and hull consisting of 6 wheels per side.

In other words, you want modern challenger MBT with Indian title. Isn't it?

Not really, many modern MBTs have 3 man crew with auto loader. Take the K2 for example or even Leclerc and many more. So having a 3 crew tank with a redesigned turret can be a good candidate for MK3 or say MK2A with a weight of say 53-55 tons and a powerful engine and APS. A 130mm gun would be awesome too.

I am for two man crew; with modern tech its possible to have two man crew, one driver and other shooter/commander. That way tank's weight could be reduced. Loading could be done through autoloader. Either person could change the role.

They should think in terms of FMBT. Markava 4, type turret less design would be best. Crew could be seated at the back.

Just the idea. Tech is already developed or within reach.

fantastic superb marvelous mindblowing sir,
but i do have one problem with that,

the two set of tracks as you shown one in the front and the other in the rear
this will become disadvantages while crossing the harp things, where the gap between the two tracks, will be hurdle, however this will benefit in the crossing of the canals in the pakistan punjab province

Yes yes :biggrin2::biggrin2:
Varun and Aditya ...
This was just a think from game...
But concept looked to me impressive
Better ground clearance , targetting it will not be easy (forget about in game dimension)
Such design can be used for light tank ....equipped with 105 mm
However, technical advantages disadvantages @Kunal Biswas sir can say much better

For a light tank,Tata Kestrel with 105mm gun is good enough.

Mobility and firepower both.

If Kestrel tracked version see a light tank platform with a 105 mm then what wrong was with 105 mm on BMP in 90s?
At least we could get experiences from that which would help us in rectifying our possible mistakes in making new Kestrel 105 mm.

Depends on the intended role really. Wheeled APCs like Stryker MGS or Centauro are mostly for infantry support. Anti armor role emphasis will require light tanks like Sprut-SD or CV 90-120, with tracked chassis.

Although technically speaking, the concept is not that otherworldly. There was a Soviet design in the late 70s/early 80s, called Object 490B, named "Belka". It never went beyond paper drawings.

Drdo had come up with a BMP 2 with 105mm gun.
It was not required back then, now as we are in a process of replacing old BMP,we should go for tracked Kestrel or FICV with 105mm gun.

Army shelved the idea saying it just doesn't needs one and hence no light tanks.

What an irony of our forces-our most powerful enemy shares border with us on the most daunting and hilly terrain in the world but still army never recognised it requires a light tank.

Short sightedness along with corruption has killed many great products.

PicsArt_11-08-12.07.49.jpg

This is claimed to be future MBT of China on which they are working on.
Now. Questions
1) What is the need of a new MBT?
PLA could use Type-96/A/B and Type-99 /A as standard as they have now
And Type-96, Type-98 and VT-4 as export version.
Then what is the need of a new MBT?
2) No one just make weapons randomly . Because it takes investment of huge time ,labour and financial support. When some one make a platform then the developer keeps the advisory system in mind. So what is the target?
3) Do they think one day they may have to go in NorKor against K-2,Type-10,M1A2s etc? If so then definately Type-99 isn't a decent platform generally hypothesized. Forget about Type-98/96.
4) Will they export it? Then definately Arjun platform they are taking seriously. Because Pakistan is their biggest potential arms market, and Pakistan's biggest tank threat is Arjun Mk 2.
5) Is this new tank actually an all terrain platform? Future replacement of Type-96? China is working on a 1500+ hp engine which will work in high altitude with even insufficient oxygen presence.

Clearly, China is more kneen on Western design rather conventional Soviet design. Even Russians are now leaned to Western style design.

The new tank , if become as is claimed, will be "T-14" of China.

And , unless they are planning solely keeping it to them, if for international market too, then Arjun Mk 2 definately an advisory they will see as.

Several years ago, one traitor was capyured who was charged with supplying infos to Pakistan about presence of Arjun Regiments. Since then it was clear how much outcry Arjun had created in Islamabad . And now Beijing too clearly see as huge threat.

I hope from now at least Arjun gets the respect it deserves.
