Here too it is only gliding, not using any propulsion medium to induce thrust. This skip gliding is same to what we used to do in our childhood with a flat piece of stone on a water surface :cool3:. Only in this case air is used for lift in place of water......
So basically it's a smaller version of this ?

It works using this mode of operation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boost-glide
Boost-glide involves first sending the bomb to near-earth orbit and making it reenter the atmosphere and glide thru to the target. It can glide (free float) or propel (c.f. MaRV). Ballistic missile !!. A self-propelled glide bomb released from a plane is just a cruise missile without guidance.

If you read carefully article says SDB is around 110 KG. But SAAW is around 125-150 Kg. Extra weight may be because of more warhead and more penetration capacity.
An extra 25-35 kg doesn't deserve a separate nomenclature nor it alters the genre of the weapon. It is just idle nit-picking.

This either cones with tons of ball bearings to make crater in the runway or uses penetration cum blast to crater the Runway

We use Israeli made bombs for thus purpose.

This SAAW must be a glide bomb with GPS guidance to destroy those Runways

SDB 2 is generation ahead smart glide bomb. Comes with three seekers for precession strike even to attack fast moving vehicles

A special bomb known as glide bombs has been developed by India for its Air Force's fighter jets in a bid to meet its air combat capability.

India Successfully Tests One Ton Glide Bomb
December 19, 2014

NEW DELHI: India today tested a one ton indigenously-developed glide bomb which successfully hit a target 100 kms away. The precision-guided bomb, tested in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Odisha, was dropped by an Indian Air Force aircraft. The bomb, guided by its on board navigation system, glided for nearly 100 km before hitting the target with "great precision," said the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), which constructed it.Several radars tracked the flight of the bomb which was developed by multiple centres linked to DRDO.According to Dr G Satheesh Reddy, the Director of the DRDO's Research Centre Imarat Laboratory which was the nodal agency in developing the glide bomb, "India has now become self-reliant in the area of guided precision bombs."

Unlike missiles, glide bombs have no onboard motor and are therefore far cheaper to build and maintain than missiles. Glide bombs rely on small control surfaces which direct the weapon towards a target as it progressively loses altitude after being released from an aircraft. The key to a precision guided bomb is its seeker which can lock onto a target based on pre-programmed targeting data. The seeker itself can be optica l, infrared or a combination of the two and telemetry for the bomb can also be provided from overhead satellites.

With a range of 100 kms, the Indian-built glide bomb can be fired on ground targets which are beyond the range of most surface-to-air missile systems in use in Pakistan and China. In other words, the pilot of the fighter dropping the bomb can drop the weapon and escape before entering the range of the radars of enemy surface-to-air missiles which can shoot it down.

GPS/INS Guidance and Control Kit and Glide Fin Kit for 450 kg HSLD Bomb
Ground mechanical adaptation trials of the kit with Jaguar Darin-II were conducted successfully.
Using avionics and seeker for PG kit for 450 kg High Speed Low Drag (HSLD) aircraft bomb, captive
trials have been successfully completed at ITR. The seeker locked-on and tracked the target during the
captive flight.

New Family of Munitions
Under this project, seven types of munitions have been designed and developed by DRDO, viz.,
Nipun, Vibhav, Vishal, Parth, Prachand, Ulka and Abha to improve the existing munitions and enhance
its performance. User-assisted technical trials (UATT) for NIPUN have been successfully completed.
Trials with 15 sets of prototypes of Vibhav have been successfully completed. Explosive train trials with
actual fuze components of Vibhav have been successfully completed.

New Family of Munitions: Six types of munitions are being designed and developed by DRDO viz. Nipun, Vibhav, Vishal, Parth, Prachand and Ulka to improve the existing munitions and enhance its performance.

User Assisted Technical Trials (UATT) of Soft Target Blast Munition ‘NIPUN’ has been completed and the system has been offered for User trials.

Lethality trials with new main body assembly and desert trials of Anti-Tank Point Attack Munition ‘VIBHAV’ have been carried out.

Dynamic trials with BMP/ AFV, explosive train trials and desert trials of Anti-Tank Bar Munition ‘VISHAL’ have been conducted successfully.

Moulding trials of Jumping Fragmentation Munition ‘ULKA’ is under progress.

User demo trials of Directional Fragmentation Module ‘PARTH’ have been completed and field trials are in progress.

MOD Annual Report 2016

High Speed Low Drag (HSLD) -- 450 kg Glide Bomb
NIPUN -- Soft Target Blast Munition
VIBHAV -- Anti-Tank Point Attack Munition
VISHAL -- Anti-Tank Bar Munition
ULKA -- Jumping Fragmentation Munition
PARTH -- Directional Fragmentation Module
Prachand -- ??

Getting this from BR, there seems to be a whole line of guided bombs being tested.

Looks awesome, four 125 kg in a single multi ejection rack

Jag can easily carry two and MKI four of them.. A set of 10 MKI or Jaguar enough to take out a air base

India Successfully Tests One Ton Glide Bomb. Why That's Important
Article Says: With a range of 100 kms, the Indian-built glide bomb can be fired on ground targets which are beyond the range of most surface-to-air missile systems in use in Pakistan and China. So basically, this would be the best option to use in precision strikes against terrorist camps.
